First off - I am not trolling. I would honestly like to know.

With the macbook being released less than one week ago - how did it go to being 3d most popular? What does 'Most Popular Laptops' mean?

I took it to mean people who bought a laptop 'registered' to say that they bought one. NOT that they thought a laptop they would LIKE to get is 'nice' or cool.

Are people just saying that a laptop is 'cool' when they vote?

    Thanks.

Good question, one which we can't possibly answer unless we ask every last one who voted ;)

I reckon most popular by definition is the one people find the most exciting, the best or what the broader audience find the most interesting.

I don't think it's an indication of how many on notebookreview that has one.

I believe it means the number of 'hits' a laptop get from the main site.

This is why laptops such as the ASUS W3j which is well known in the forums aren't even on the list, because it doesn't have many visitors to the main site, and not the forums.

Another example is the ASUS forum being one of the most active, with the most posts, second to Dell in threads, but don't have a mention on the main site. Just how it is I suppose.

Coriolis is right, it's based upon product views, generally a notebook that is new rises fast up the polls because products such as the MacBook gets a lot of views in our product database. It's not rigged!

And notice that feature is over the last 5 days. When we post our monthly reports, that activity includes the entire month.
