After the leak of iphone 4G, now we see the new macbook White leaked again in Vietnam.I think that new macbook White will be available as soon as possible, I hope after this upgrade, macbook Air will be update too

CPU is upgraded from 2.26 to 2.4Ghz, ram memory is still 2GB DDR3 1066Mhz .Graphic card is updated too, with Geforce 320M 256MB DDR3 which are using in new Macbook Pro line.In this update, i can see the quality of screen is better although the resolution still 1280x800

Another change is charge slot and DVD,now support dual layer DVD

When open it, the code of this product is Macbook 7.1, new Macbook Pro is Macbook Pro 6.2. This machine is preinstalled with Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and iLife. The price may be as 999$ as before

Now this Macbook is available in VietNam, as we know Apple will introduce this product in next Sunday.

Thanks Tinhte.com and Phongee for the news

Yes. It's quite a difference actually.

Too bad the display quality of the MB is quite a lot lower.

Just slight processor and video card updates, like the 13" MBP. I had briefly considered waiting to see what the refreshed 13" MacBook brought to the table when I bought my U30; I'm glad I didn't. I'm especially disappointed that they didn't even bother to upgrade the RAM. $1000 is way too much for a computer with 2x1GB of RAM.

I'm just glad it still has a 16:10 aspect ratio.... I have to give kudos to Apple just for that.

That's the most blasphemous thing I've ever read on these forums. Chuck Norris clipped his toenails and Jack Bauer was spawned. Seriously. Delta Force + Missing In Action > 24. Any millennium.

On a side note, this refresh is as unimpressive as the 13" MBP refresh. But I'll also give kudos to apple for sticking to 16:10. Now put in an i3 and change the damned color already so I can buy one.

edit: Also I remember reading about a lot of hairline crack problems when these became unibodys. I wonder if that issue remains.

It's a personal preference thing for the most part, I suppose, but I'm personally not sure I'd give them "kudos" for sticking with 1280x800 on the 13" models. The common 16:9 equivalent, 1366x768, gains 166 horizontal lines at the cost of 32 vertical lines, providing 25,088 more pixels or roughly 2.5% more desktop space.

The 15" and 17" models are a different story, however.

I wish they would drop the shiny white polycarbonate and do:

    -White Matte
    or
    -Black Matte

The black macbooks were indeed quite gorgeous. A colleague of mine still has one and it looks way better than the white ones.

At this point I don't even care if they keep the white and don't include black. Just make the white a MATTE FINISH not shiny plastic.

I'd pay $50 just for that.

First, you're right, you shouldn't be fond of the design because it's NOT a Macbook Pro, it's the standard Macbook. Macbook Pro has only had an aluminum shell. Secondly, the previous Unibody Polycarbonate design is identical to this one. The white version before this design was not a unibody. If you were to sit the old white one next to the new Unibody model you would easily see the Unibody is much better built than the older pre-unibody design.

Agreed, it would be nice if black was optional, but the biggest problem with the black is that it was a fingerprint grease magnate and the trackpad got horribly shiny over time making the black Macbook look like crap unfortunately.

Maybe you haven't taken a look at the new Unibody Macbook. The screen is very good and very high in contrast and it doesn't washout. It's not limited in viewing angles like the Pre-Unibody plastic one or the Non-Pro Aluminum Macbook. It's one of the very few notebooks under $1000 with a high contrast screen.

I did. Contrast was quite good. Gamut was average. Brightness disappointing.

The Macbook Pro 13 right next to it had better colors and higher brightness.

And you're right it's not a bad screen for a sub $1000 laptop.

I said earlier that the Macbook screen brightness seemed disappointing. I was in the same shop today and now I noticed the Macbook was placed quite close to a big window making the brightness seem lower.

The difference in brightness is actually quite small. I think it may be something like 200 nits for the MB, 220 for the MBP. Negligible.

The difference in gamut is easier to see.

Overall the Macbook screen is quite good, especially considering the price.
