Hi guys,
first my specs
720 processor
8gb of ram
260 card
microsoft wireless mouse 5000
Stealth mode OFF
latest drivers from dell
I tried 2 different games and got the same problem. One was CoD:black ops and the other was Americas Army. I was getting what seemed to be excessive lag just in the menu areas. I would almost describe it as mouse lag. Here is what I tried
Loaded the game (mouse receiver plugged into a USB hub) ran like poop
closed the game
unplugged the hub and tried the touch pad, ran like poop
closed the game
plugged the mouse receiver into the pc directly and tried again ran like poop.
does anyone have any idea what is going on here?
-
Try turning off v sync, it causes mouse lag in the menus in a few games
-
i specifically noted that stealth mode was OFF
vsync was off as well -
im sure ur power plugged.....
1 do a powerdrain
2 make sure power plan is on high preformance aswell as CCC is on power play enabled
3 toggle stealth mode on/off
4 check gpu z to see if your card is achieving max settings. either thru game or furmark. And check your temps -
power plan is on high performance
jesus tapdancing christ. STEALTH MODE IS OFF. i think saying that in the first GD post and then in the third and now in this one should be enough to satisfy that. i appreciate the people trying to help, but it seems that no one is even reading what is written.
my temps are under control, i don't see anything odd in gpuz and i get a rather high futuremark score.
this seems like mouse lag to me, but i dont have a wired mouse around to test it out. basically its just like what this guy is getting

i will try to take a video of it on my puter.
edit:which benchmarking tool should I use? the last time I did it I was on the phone with the alienware guys and they sent me one. i remember having a score over 10,000.
in the meantime here are some things
and a video of whats happening

Have you updated to the latest bios? Latest drivers?
-
Yeah, what Bios do you have?
And about stealth mode... even if you think it's of, sometimes it activates itself for no reason, then you have to tap twice on the speedometer to solve it... that's always worth a try even if you think it's off.
Black Ops has a laggy main menu, I can have constantly 60fps in the game (with vsync on) but only about 30-40 fps in the menu...
For BO also check your config files and make sure multiGPU is disabled and multithreading enabled. -
@OP:
He never said you had Stealth Mode on, he just suggested you turn it on and then off again. That helps sometimes.
We are all trying to help here. Take a chill pill

Lol.....
The only time i had this happen was because my gpu was throttling.... if its only in game...
I also unparked all cpu cores which reduces the mouse lag altogether for me, but that doesnt seem like ur problem. Sounds like its 1 of 2 things either uninstall drivers for mouse and reinstall or ur gpu is throttling. Also there has been some resent win updates if try restore to a prior date before u had problems. If that doesnt work try run game as administrator..... i know that helped in win vista...
If all this fails..... turn off stealth mode....lol -
bios is a09, drivers are the latest from dell.
-
A09 is the bios. i have checked it via the command center, its off.
-
true, but it is frustrating when it seems like the original post hasn't even been read.
-
yeah it only happens in game. how do i unpark the cores of the CPU? the mouse is a POS and my assumption is that it is the mouse more than anything else (its wireless), but I could be wrong. I had the problems before SP1 and after SP1, so i would say that this is independent of the most recent windows updates. i was noticing very low frame rates in americas army as well, this could have been because i had the thing recording my desktop running but i dont want to put all the eggs in that basket. how can i verify if my GPU is throttling?
-
I would download a program called HWiNFO32 if you don't already have it and log all sensors while running the game. (Open the program --> click run--> click sensors (in top menu bar all the way to the right) --> click logging start (bottom middle)) That will give you your GPU utilization as well as the various temperatures... from there we can figure out what is happening better
Also... I have a POS blue-tooth mouse (don't know if yours is bluetooth or RF) and it occasionally lags due to bad drivers... I just a mogo x54 mouse (also bluetooth) and it works great with no lag... go figure. -
what i meant by the updates is that windows will create a restore point, if u have a restore point BEFORE ur current problems started, u could jump back to that point... if youve be have this problem on a constant basis look into saving up for a new mouse.... use something like furmark(window) for a stress test while running gpu-z on sensors and check ur cloak cores and mem cores to see if it staying max or jumping up and down... oh yeah and i did read your first post
dont really think this will help u but here u go: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/494232-how-adjust-core-parking-inside-windows-7-a.html
strange problem while gaming
