in a bid to finally get to the problem of all my games freezing/glitching,sound looping ect. ive downloaded two programs one was "CPU-Z" please can someone have a look at the attached file to Annalise it.
i also downloaded a program called "ozone3dnetfurmark" and after running for 20 min the results where:
min temp 47 degrees
max temp 95 degrees
fps min 1
fps max 77
fps avg 48
clocks core 550 mhz memory 950 MHz
when running this program it was glitchy at times
just to confirm i have cleaned the vents (there was alot of dust) Ive re-applied thermal paste to the CPU and GPU
Ive downloaded all updates and relevant drivers. Ive not got the stealth button on, Ive tried everything now. i have been offered a replacement GPU from a member on this site however i want to know if it defo needs doing and while it needs doing surely i should replace it with a better one?
i'm a noob who is getting there slowly
cheers

Sounds more like a driver issue to me. What are your system specs?
-
the specs are:
inte(r) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 740 @1.73 Ghz
installed memory (RAM) 4.00 GB
System type 64 -Bit operating system
Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 1GB GPU,
160Gb HDD.
ive updated all the drivers that im awere of, i did however play Age of empire 3 on normal setting without any lag. -
Did you try a factory restore or clean install with latest drivers from dell?
Your temps seem reasonable considering you ran Furmark so on normal games you shouldn't see more than 85 degrees max. I don't think its a thermal throttling prob.
It may be the driver, PSU or gfx card. Rule the driver out by performing a clean install. -
lol thanks already done two clean installs, ive just bought a laptop fanpad, the game now kinda plays lol a little
-
Hmmm... if the cooler helped it seems as if its related to temps then. Strange though as Furmark is one of, if not the most stressful gpu benchmark.
Did you replace the thermal pads on the vram chips when repasting your gpu? I'm not certain on how the heatsink contacts the vram as I don't have my M15x anymore but you could try replacing the thermal pads with a higher quality one. I bought the fujipoly premium from frozencpu.com for my current gpu's.
You could also try using a blob of thick thermal paste for each vram chip instead of thermal pads but you have to make certain that the heatsink is making proper contact with the paste and the chips. Take this under advisement though as I know it works for my current cards but I never tried it on the 260M when I had my M15x.
EDIT: Also check this thread to see if your symptoms are similar and flash to the latest BIOS if you have not already done so. -
if a laptop cooler pad helped, i'm inclined to think you may need to reseat the gpu heatsink.
which paste did you use?
and how much paste did u use? -
lol the pad has only helped a little, it let me play the game with a few hces with all settings on the min. i will look into the pads as for the paste i used "artic MX-2" was just a brand i found in my local shop, i just put a enough to cover the CPU and GPU

Do you have the latest bios from dell? There were some throttling issues on the M15x that were resolved with the newer BIOS.
Your temps from Furmark aren't bad at all considering you ran it for 20mins, so this is strange. Arctic Cooling MX2 is a good quality paste.
Try using GPU-Z to monitor temps and clocks on your card while running Furmark in windowed mode. If you could post a screenprint of this it would also help.
please help to confirm me GPU needs replacing
