Since I applied MX4 my cpu has been running much cooler with a big jump in performance. So I tried Throttle Stop 3.0 at several different settings which have been suggested by some of my NBR family. My performance dropped drastically so I set it back to stock settings and even turned it off and it still was badly underperforming. I took it off my pc and deleted all registry entries associated with TS, and now its back to running really well. I don't get it, I know several people have used TS with great results.Any thoughts?

The M15x is limited by an inadequate power supply. If you are using a 920XM/940XM and overclock it, your CPU will consume a lot more power which can take power away from the GPU and result in throttling and overall lower performance. You have to learn to walk a fine line between maximum performance and throttling.

The power adapter is not designed to be able to deliver that kind of power so throttling results.
ThrottleStop does not use the registry so there shouldn't have been too much hiding in there. Once you trigger throttling, it might be left in that state after you reboot. On the M15x, I think this shows up in the Chipset Clock Modulation column. On the right hand side of ThrottleStop, the Chip column should always be showing 100.0% which shows that your CPU is not being throttled with this method. You can try putting a check mark in the Chipset box and setting that to 100.0% but the best thing to do is buy a Kill-a-Watt meter and learn to live within your power budget so you don't trip the throttling circuit during normal use. -

Throttlestop is an awesome software but I suggest you do not use it when you are gaming...The author of Throttlestop UncleWebb already explained you the reason in the above post.
Use Throttlestop while benching or doing some other CPU-intensive tasks...but for a average gamer/ normal computer user, I suggest you make a low power consuming profile so that there won't be any power-bottlenecking between the CPU and the GPU...
