IV had my m15x for about a year and love it, was a little dissapointed to find out its discountined thought, does this mean that newer procressers after the 940xm won't work in the m15x or can the things used in the m14x be used?
Also in terms on gpu, will they support new gpu for the m15x or will it be like the 6970 where we have to mess around with stuff .
The m14x has the 555m hows that in comparison to the 5850 now ?

The 940XM is still a first gen i7 which will work fine. Only 4 digit CPUs such as the 2820QM won't work. The 555m GT is nothing compared to the 5850. That card is similar to the 260m and perhaps a bit slower. You don't have to mess around with a lot of stuff with the 6970m. If you get it from Dell, it will work fine with no problems.
-
does the 6970m fit properly then? Yea with the CPU, is that the last one that work in the m15x?
-
For now yes, we do not know what is going to happen with the new 570 and 580 cards until someone tries it.
-
Yep the 940XM is the highest one that goes in. In terms of performance, you can get the same from a 920XM, they are equal in terms of performance. The 6970m works fine. Everything works as it should if you get a Dell version.
-
OK thanks, what's the diff in 920 and 940 then?
-
Same chip, the 940 is higher binned which means it is likely to be more stable at extreme overclocks. Everyday use, you can take the 920XM to 940 speeds and more.
