There was another thread for this but due to the date of the last post I thought I'll start a new one for myself and anyone else with this issue.
The problem I have is that every time I tell the computer to shutdown it resets. I don't believe it is bluescreening and to make sure I have turned off the "reboot after bluescreen" option.
What it looks like is a normal shutdown but the AlienFX lights don't turn off then 10 seconds later the BIOS post screen shows and the computer starts up again. A quick press of the Alien button turns the PC off. Also the suspend button doesn't keep the computer suspended, "something is waking it up" I don't have anything plugged in to the laptop.
I have tried the latest driver from Nvidia with no joy and also with the power adapter plugged in and out, no luck.
I have also tried to shutdown from my Linux boot CD and it did the same thing "restart".
I have just had my motherboard replaced as I had the AlienFX lights go out on me but it was happening with my old motherboard as well.
Any ideas?

I have found the issue with the suspend issue, turns out it is the ITECIR (infrared Receiver). I have disabled this in Windows and now it suspends. I still have the shutdown issue, I'm wondering if it is a hardware issue. I have detached the IR board on the laptop but I see that the ITECIR is still being seen by Windows and also if it isn't disabled then windows doesn't suspend. So wondering if the ITECIR is really on the motherboard and the front is only the receiver diodes ?
If this is the case then is it a motherboard issue?
I don't see a way in the BOIS to diable the IR. -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Have you tried to disable ITECIR in Device Manager (under Human Interface Devices)?
