just called dell about my issues when playing games, and was told they are all out of replacement GPU's for the M15X. i was then transferred to someone from tech support who said that even tough my product was out of warrinty they have a 2 year obligation by law to fix the issue (i think its similar to the xbox rrod issues)
just awaiting collection now, will update with anymore info as i get it.
worth a try if anyone else is having issues.
*my first helpful thread....yeahhhhhh*

i thought they are only obligated to cover for the period of the product warranty? did you get the extended warranty?
-
no i bought it of a "mate" a few weeks ago had these problems, called dell they said that it was out of warrenty, however they guy said that they was obligated by law to fix it! i was confused and he did confirm that it will be collected and fixed by a tech for free!!

Seems like a dodgy buy from this "mate" of yours... unless I'm otherwise mistaken and there is some form of obligation.
Why exactly are they obligated if the warranty has expired?
Not to be a smart but isn't that what a warranty is for? -
i only called about a replacement GPU like i said the guy on the phone told me that it was out of warranty but they will still colloct it and fix it free of charge, i'm not complaining.
maybe its similar to what xbox did with the red ring of death issue and extend the warrenty? -
ermmmmmmm slightly red faced over here, i just called again and the guy says that i'm out of one warranty but I AM still under the two year warranty and that's why i get it for free.
massive apologies for the miss information

ohhhh coool so i DID bring somthing worth while to the forums....surely that deserves me some rep lol
-
What's the problem?
Which GPU will they change?
What does these GPU does in order to think they are faulty? -
i believe some 8xxx series cards were faulty, i remember i verified when i had my dell xps 1530 with 8600gt, they overheated like beasts

The 8800GTX on my old XPS 420 overheated and died. Dell did not replace it for me . The wanted to charge me something like $500 to replace it when I could get a newer equivalent or better card for cheaper, so I did that. oh well, you get a free replacement. nice. I am actually going to call today about issues I have been having with my video card and hope to get something newer/better as well.
important news on warranty
