im thinking about getting a new mouse for gaming because my old plain mouse is a pain to deal with sometimes. ive been looking at both the razer deathadder and the cyborg rat 5. which one would you guys go with? i think the rat 5 is about 5-$10 more.

But it all boils down to what games do you play. For MMORPGs I'd recommend the Razer Naga and while it looks insane with all the 17 buttons you get used to it very quick. Another mouse similar to the Deathadder, ergonomically speaking, is the Cooler Master Storm Inferno (4,000 DPI) but the driver on it could use more work (not as user friendly as the Deathadders).
Anyways, if the RAT5 and the Deathadder are your only options then I'd go with the Deathadder hands down
Edit: You might also want to look at mouse mats if youre willing to spend a couple more bucks. If so then I recommend the Razer Vespula which is similar to the Razer eXactMat.
Edit: Oh and btw, you should have posted this here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/accessories/ -
Get the Roccat Kova [+] very good mouse and customisable lights like the alienware itself

Between the two, and not bringing other mice into the discussion, the Deathadder kills it.

Out of the two I would take Deathadder.
Out of all mice I would take Naga epic. -
i mainly play fps games. im most likely gonna be stuck on something like battlefield 3. i might start playing mmo's later idk. the deathadder seems really cool. what scares me though is that a couple days ago, i got my brother a razer mamba for his bday, and since his new computer is arriving soon, we decided to use it on my M15x for the time being. when i installed the drivers for the mamba, every time i adjusted the dpi with the two buttons, a pop up appears that says "BinaryGFX access detected. Choose Yes to enable or No to cancel." i find this problem to be quite annoying. do you think that i will experience something like this with the deathadder?

Also, you might want to check this out: Palm Grip - Razer Gaming Mouse Advisor - Razer™ | For Gamers. By Gamers.™
It looks weird that there is even a guide on the different "styles" for holding a mouse but it might help you get an idea on how is the Deathadder if you have not used it before.
Edit: Deathadder is what Razer calls a palm grip -
hmm. i dont have my hand entirely on the mouse, usually the fingers and bottom of palm. but the deathadder looks a LOT like the mamba and i like the feel of the mamba i got for my brother.

i play alot of fps and coming from an Intellimouse 3.0 (for cs 1.6) the Razer Deathadder has about the same great shape but 10 times the build quality. Very satisfied with it so far

Get one from here, looks like amazing value: Razer DeathAdder Re-Spawn
-
I don't like the deathadder i guess i have a heavy index finger and im always accidentally pressing mouse 1 button so i shelved it. I was thinking of getting a rat7 cuz it has the pinky grip and im a ring and pinky dragger.
-
Between the listed two, i'd go with the Death adder, hands down. Razer mice are built very well, and shouldn't let you down. If you already have experience with a razer mouse, and like the feel, thats all you need.
Before buying a mouse though, i'd try to get my hands on one in a store, just to see if it fits right. For me, the one that fit best was the lowly Logitech mx518. (replaced by today's logitech g400) As always though, get what fits your hand best. -
WHAT!!!!???
absoloutely amazing value, i'll take 2 of those -
