This has been a small problem, even before reinstalling windows. But I think it might explain something with my computers drop in performance lately:
As you can see, below "windows color" is greyed out, and I cant switch themes; which is odd. Sometimes my laptop feels like switching to basic for no reason. I then have to play around with the Aero Themes until it feels like coming back
Any Ideas? This is really bugging me

My screen looks exactly the same. Those are always "greyed out", but if you click on the icon above them it will take you to the respective selection screens. Unless I don't understand the problem.

mine goes to a colour changing option, no option of switching theme? Installing SP1 now

To switch to a different theme, just click on on one of the available aero themes in the middle section, i.e. Landscapes. It will automatically change the wallpaper/slide show used, along with the Windows color and sounds associated with that theme. But you can change any of the elements. If you don't care for the Slate color used with that theme, click on the Windows color icon and pick a color that you prefer, as well as the degree of transparency to employ on Windows frames, taskbar, etc. You can save the modified theme under a new name to preserve the original. If you don't like the existing themes, go online and select others.
