I experienced this when I went from 260m to 7970m. Fixed it by changing a value in regedit.

I upgraded to 970m tonight with the latest modified driver. Screen brightness is not working again. Tried the regedit method and it did not work.

    Any ideas?

Well I figured out the regedit fix after searching all over the place for it.

I had to add "RMBrightnessControlFlags" then set it to 800 in regedit
