A few months ago I bought a used M15x. Got it at a reasonable price. The owner insisted he removed the hard drive as it had confidential info on there. I tried to talk him into letting me buy it with the HDD, but no deal - so I bought it without the drive and put in a micro SSD drive.
Unfortunately, the mobo has blown (shorting out the power adapter). The M15x is still under warranty but I don't have the original HDD and I want to put an identical HDD in it before I contact Dell to repair the laptop.
Can anyone tell me what make/model HDDs Dell used in the M15x. All I know is that it was a 250GB 7200rpm drive.
Also, like an idiot, when I installed the Micro SSD drive, the HDD caddy wouldn't fit properly (I bought Micro SSD rather than 2.5 because I got it for a bargain price and just used a Micro to standard Sata adapter), I put the caddy to one side and now I can't find it. Does anyone have a spare HDD caddy for a Dell M15x available for sale? I'm based in the UK.

Mine is the seagate momentus. I attached a screenshot of hwinfo64, it has the name, model, and everything.

I had a feeling Dell generally used Seagate Momentus drives in their laptops - thanks. I'll order one now

Any 2.5" sata drive will work

Good luck,

My machine came with WD Scorpio Black 320 GB drive - series WD3200.
It is a standard 2.5" drive. I can't find a spare carrier - I suspect I used it for the Momentus drive.
