    Hi guys,
Here is my problem. I have my alienware m15x for a year and right now my adapter seems stop working. It does not charge the battery!
I tried all the tricks you guys have mentioned (power drain, take the battery off and on, latest bios A09, switch Fn+F2....) The bios just does not recognize the adapter even with battery disconnected!
I brought an adapter ($30) on ebay and at the first time it worked. I got my battery charged to 60%. But when i plugged in again that ebay adapter it stopped working again, the same problem with my OEM one! Another problem with this "ebay" adapter is that it generates lots of electrical noise! All my I/O ports got effected. When i connected my iphone, it got the charging status on, off, on, off.....with my external screen, several lines are shown on it! These thing never happened with my OEM adapter. (I have shipped the ebay one)
Here is the thing. I dont know whether it is the only problem with my adapter, maybe there is sth wrong with my motherboard or the battery??? I dont have another dell adapter so that I can try on. :(
To replace an adapter from Dell costs $200 and to renew a one year warranty costs $300-400 I guess.
    What should I do?
    Helps!!!
    Thanks.

imo, renew the warranty and ask dell to check the whole laptop. Maybe some damages will soon be surfaced, thanks to the ebay adapter.

Dell doesn't charge $200 for a M15x replacement adapter; it's not cheap, but at least it works.

when the machine starts and reports an unrecognized power supply, hit F2 to go into the BIOS setup, unplug the power supply and then plug it back in, then exit BIOS without machine any changes. This will let the machine recognize the power supply maybe if you did not do this ..
