    Hey I just noticed that when I plug in a mouse the light around it goes away, is this normal?

    yes, its normal. when mouse is plugged in the touchpad turns off. you can turn it back on with fn+f12

    can you turn the light off by any chance without turning off the touchpad?

    Not as far as I know. There are some lit-up areas that cannot be disabled, others can with alien fx by turning the colour to black in command center, if you wanted to have the keyboard lit up whilst having the head lights off for example.

    You can actually. Simply go into AlienFX and choose to have no light surrounding the pad.

    EDIT: I'm an idiot. You can't, unless you disable the whole lot by pressing FN+F11

    I can't find an option to disable the light surrounding the track pad? Am I missing something?

    If you don't want the touchpad to go off when you plug a mouse in, go into the command center and into the AlienTouch section, there is an option for it.

    if you don`t want your trackpad to automatically disable when you plug a external mouse then:

    Control Panel > Mouse settings > Device Settings Tab > unckeck "Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointi .....bla bla"
