I set up my laptop specifications on the internet. Printed out the summary, handed it PERSONALLY to the sales executive. After 2 days, over the phone he is telling me there's something wrong with my order and that the price has a "10% increase" or whatever and that he will give me the details tomorrow. I know where he works. I'm guessing this is his way of saying
"YO, WE'RE ORDERING DIZ EXPENZIVE LAPTOP FO U AND U WILL PAY 4 DA MACHINE, DA SHIPPING AND DA DELIVERY BUT U DNT PAY US?" I visited the dell site MULITPLE TIMES just to have my daily fix (LOL, Am I weird or what?)
Alienware is already overpriced -_- This is normal, right? For a store to ask for interest or whatever. I doubt it will be 10%, more like 50%.
I live in the Middle East, damn if only I lived in the US/Canada.. you guys are lucky. Let's just hope he orders the damn thing tomorrow (since I talked to him a WEEK ago but he had to get in touch with someone in the US) before school starts by a week for me I want to play my games. Take note: this is my last year and if I don't take full advantage of my alienware in this vacation then when will I do it? When I need to study for my exams?!
I need to wait for it to get delivered in the US and then get delivered here. DOUBLE the wait Please someone tell me it's worth it xD
Is there a way for me to get a hold of a US mail box and let alienware ship it there, then it gets shipped back to me or something? My mom has trust issues too.. This wait is killing me slowly...
If anyone is curious, here are my 'future' specs ($2269):
i7 840 QM
ATI 5850
500 GB
6GB RAM
900p
Dual Layer
6-cell
Sorry I had to vent K I'm done.
P.S. What is alienware's working hours/days? Jw.

hey.
first of all Alienware Middle East does exist. and if your sales executive isnt playing around he orders through them. he does not have the option to order from the US as the US site only serves US address, people, and businesses. and they check so no way from the US. you must have US phone number, US credit card, and US address.
go to the dell middle east site click on alienware select a system and it will give you the contact information for dell middle east office in dubai.
i attempted something similar to this with my dealer, he wanted $2500 for base configuration. and you can forget the prices you see on the US site as they do not apply to the rest of the world. espically for this region.
BTW where are you from? -
@madoon
While you are mostly correct, not being able to order in Middle East from US is not correct. You can have the computer ordered to a US address(such as a private cargo box) then being shipped to wherever you are. However when the box arrives your local costoms, you'd prefer to have it bought locally because they usually charge a lot. -
in the middle east in generally for a person to order something for his own use (non-commercial/non-business) he does not have to pay taxes. this is true where i am and probably applies for most of the middle east. so when you do order, all you have to pay is the shipping and it will be delivered to your home without having to pay anything extra.
plus there is a tutorial thread somewhere on the forum with exactly what you mean. its instructions on how to buy from the US and get it forwarded to your country. -

Madoon, sounds like you have the same computer setup as me. I am currently using my M17x, but I actually have an Inspiron 1720 as well and it;s been a great computer. It has the following specs
Black Inspiron 1720 | T9500 2.6GHz | 8600M GT | 256GB SSD | 640GB 5K4 | 4GB DDR2 | Win 7 Pro | 1920 x 1200 | Vantage: 1457 | 3DMark06: 4366
Now as for bribes, lol that just made me laugh. -

The only time I got my CC info stolden is when I was doing online banking and a virus nabbed it (this was on my macbook at the time, damn cracked version of CS4).
Point being using your CC info over the phone or online w/ the companies is pretty damn safe.
And if it jecks jacked (like Mandrake said), its the companies fault. -
Anyway, I would recommend a wire transfer if you are really afraid somebody is going to steal your cc details. Any company which wants to do serious business will offer you that as a payment option. As a matter of fact, I had to do a wire transfer since the payment for my laptop exceeded the daily paying limit (I know, thats weak) -
i originally wanted a M17x, but i thought i can't go any bigger than the inspiron, so chose the M15x. its barely smaller than the inspiron. how much bigger is the M17x than the inspiron? -
Hmm, hard to say, since I don't have the Inspiron with me, but the Inspiron was a lot thinner then the M17x and a lot lighter. You should try and find a monitor on ebay. They are probably not too expensive, and it's always nice to have two laptops so you can work on one and do whatever on the other.

The new M17xR3 is of the same size and weight as a M15x. Thought I'd let you know in case you already didn't know it.
Stupid, stupid >:(
