I am getting ready to swith out my old HD to a Intel 320, my question is if I want to use the data transfer software that comes with it, which SATA to USB cable do I need as the SSD I ordered does not seem to come with one?
Or, if I do a fresh install of Windows 7, how do I maintain my office 2010 and all the other crap that came on the system when I received it? I have a backup of all my files, I am more concerned about the programs I have plus games.
I am sure this is answered elsewhere in the forums, sorry if this is a repeated question.

I have not read a favorable report of a 'data transfer', onto an SSD, and thought a transfer was a sector copy function. Of course there are no sectors/ tracks on an SSD.
I also find the most commonly missed backup is the IE/ Firefox bookmarks and passwords, everyone remembers the files. Office will reinstall, clean, as long as you can locate the registration code.
Allow a little time for other members to refute or confirm my opinions and then back it all up one more time. -
Clone your HDD to your new SSD, and you'll have the shortest downtime.

I cloned the drive in my m15x to an intel SSD using a sata/usb adapter without any problems.
Intel offers their data migration software for free if you are transferring to an Intel drive. Their software is just a re-branded version of Acronis True Image but it works quite well.
