I bought my M15x a long time ago and was wondering if (may be a dumb question, idk) I would be able to use the Windows 7 disc that came with it, to install Windows 7 on a custom PC I just built today. Or is it just for Alienware computers/laptops?

Well technically it is under OEM rules however, after you install, if you change the serial to another one you own then it shouldn't be a problem. They are essentially the same, the Alienware one just comes with an extra Alienhead under the system properties page.

Your AW system comes actually with two Windows licences, the OEM disc gets activated with a BIOS string, and you still have a Windows sticker on the back of your system with a licence key on it.
Since you can't activate the BIOS activation of the OEM disc only works on your AW system, you could just use the key on the sticker to install it on a different system.

Well it might be a legal grey area in certain countries, I'm not quite sure... technically you only bought one copy, so you should only have one copy activated... ;)
