So last week while i Was watching a movie through my displayport my computer just shut down on me and when I turned it on it would never reach the windows log in screen. So I reinstalled windows 7 which seemed to fix the problem but now my amd 6990m isn't being fully recognized. Under display adapters it says standard vga graphics adapter but I have an unknown device listed as well under "other devices". When I install the amd drivers for the 6990m my computer goes back to the same problem of not being able to reach the windows log in screen. What can I do??

you could get them from dell if you search under the m17x R3 or R4

Update: Tried the dell drivers and still wouldn't get past the starting windows screen. I ended up putting my nvidia gt 240m in(since its the only one I have now that I recently sold my gtx 460m) and my m15x recognizes it. So looks like my 6990m is messed up. -

Time to get a new GPU it seems, get the much more powerful 7970m or the 690m which runs both cooler and more powerful.

yeah i never had that problem with my 6990, sounds pretty weird

yea the 6990m was running great and after getting some ic diamond it never hit 85. Weird how it just died on me like that. Think I'm going to go with the 680 since I hear its a lot easier to handle than the 7970m
Problems after windows 7 reinstall
