So the jack on my motherboard at the moment has had the plastic bit the cable sits on has melted (let me add, this didn't happen because of misuse, but from playing wow and the power cable overheating!) , and when I card Dell because it's not under warranty any more my only option was to send it in and pay 300 for a ya new motherboard, I researched deeper and found a replacement jack on ebay thinking I could do the soldering myself but my irons 450 degree celcius soldering temp wouldn't cut it for the jack. I have the replacement part ready to go. A shop near by says they do the replacement all the time but they want to charge 180 - 250 for their "knowledge and expertise" even after I told them I have taken apart the mobo and have a replacement part.
All in all, does anyone know and easier solution or what soldering temps that I need to hit to get the piece out? Very annoy and angry with Dell and Alienware and will definitely not be buying something from them again if this can't be resolved cheaply.
P.S the laptop is from the US and I live in Australia now.

Wow, don't pay that crazy price if you can do it yourself.
It's an easy job for someone with basic soldering skills.
The solder for the power jack should melt at a temperature way under 450° C. -
I took it to the local tech shop, and they said that nothing they had would melt it. I tried my self with a 450 degree max temp solder iron but it didn't work.
Power Jack soldering temps?
