Thanks to the efforts of custom90gt in the M17 forum, we can now unlock Overdrive for the 6970M by modifying and flashing the vbios. In some instances, it may also require limited editing of the registry, but it did not for mine. See http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...erdrive-undervolting-your-r3.html#post7656044. Attached is a modified vbios using stock settings (680/900/1.1v), but increasing the OC limits to 900/1200 (vs 780/1200 in the custom90gt versions). It can be further modified to reduce voltage, but you're likely to need the higher voltage if you intend to overclock your 6970M.

Cool, good to know. I've been using the Clevo 6970m vbios until the fatal flash, Overdrive was enabled with it as well.

I never used overdrive, Trixx works very well for me.

Main problem with Trixx for me is that the voltage remains at 1.1v (or 1.0v, whatever the 3d voltage setting), instead of dropping back to .9v for the 2d clocks. Not a major problem, it's true, but an annoyance. I have also suffered a number of lockups with Trixx, although that may just be a driver or version issue. Still not completely resolved. This only began with 11.6; haven't seen it with 11.7, but it hasn't had many opportunities yet. I've been a huge fan of Trixx, and it is distressing to see it misbehave.

Thanks for this! Does it work with Crossfire configuration too (M18x)?

Don't know mohamadnizam. Using Overdrive, voltage drops back to .9v when it switches to 2d clocks for me. However, if Trixx was used at any time during the session, voltage remains at the 3d level after switching to 2d clocks even if OD was also active. Trixx trumps the voltage setting.
