hey all,
recently the top control panel lights stopped working. thats the panel with caps lock lights and on button. i would think the panel was damaged somehow, but i can still turn laptop on using the button. however none of the touch sensitive buttons respond, and i cant see the light around alien head for when HDD is working, or when laptop is charging. thats very annoying.
i have tried unplugging/re plugging the ribbon cable to the motherboard, but nothing changed. anyone can help?
thanks

try checking your ribbon cable for damage and if its fine, you might want to invest in a new panel, they are not expensive
New Alienware M15x Center Power Button Control Covers 7R5VJ
also maybe reinstalling command center (from dell website and not the provide disk) MIGHT help? -
hmm, when panel is assembled, the power buton doesnt work. when i take out the panel and straighten the ribbon, the power button works, but lights stay off. anyone knows if one or some of the tracks might be specially for backlight? and where do i get replacement? saw some in ebay from USA, but its like £20
