M15x A07 System BIOS
BIOS Information:
BIOS Revision: A07
EC Revision: 1.10
Instructions and comments:
1. To install the BIOS, download the ISO file and use your favorite CD burning
software to create the bootable CD from the ISO. Next boot up your system
from the CD by pressing F12 in the startup screen and selecting CD/DVD.
2. To update to this BIOS your system must have BIOS A02 or later. If your
system does not meet this requirement, you will be updated to BIOS A02 and
then will be updated to BIOS A07.
3. After flashing the BIOS, the system may restart a couple of times before
entering Windows. This is normal. Please be patient and allow the system to
restart.
A07 System BIOS Release Notes:
1. Added support for the new Intel® K-0 stepping CPUs.
2. Implemented Intel® EMRR support for K-0 CPUs.
3. Enhanced compatibility with Dell diagnostic utilities.
4. Enhanced YouTube and IE performance.

Can anyone confirm that this update doesn't... Err... suck? I'm happy with my current A06 drivers, but I have the upgrading itch
-
So far the only thing different is that it made my Windows Rating for Graphics and Gaming Graphics go up by .1. Other than that its pretty much the same. Probably less or no more Display crashes though.
-
I have instaledl and work fine.
-

Meh, I think I'm gonna stick with A06 until they release a driver with more purpose than fixing youtube
-
I just got my 15x today, what do I have to do to install/update A07?
-
-
Breaking Brian Notebook Evangelist
I could be wrong for some ungodly reason but I think that this would be what you need to do... Sure looks familiar
-
Sorry I should have been more specific, I dont have a cd to burn to, can I use something else, like a flash drive?
-
Breaking Brian Notebook Evangelist
And you have to have Bios A02 installed... If you dont' the same CD will upgrade you to A02 THEN install A07.

Daemon tools I think.... :| I can't recall. -
Great news for all ATI 5870 users, my GPU core temp got down 8 degree celsius on 3D mark vantage runs, stock settings are with A07 70 degrees

My ambient temp are about the same 22degrees (without science.)
Is there no diffrence at all for you? -
Hey guys, any difference for 260m users?
-
-
-
To all else curious.. This is not any bios that has been used for fixing throttling. The fix would contain a NEW EC and would prolly clearly state it.
Figured I would mention before people start breaking out the tar and feathers. -
So, no throttling fix and no touchpad fix...
-
actually it does update the EC, i saw the app flash it. also now shows EC version as 1.1 in bios.
mouse still yucky, wouldn't know about vid card yet cause i just (not to mention i have rivatuner forcing clocks) -

The Nero version that ships with the M15x works fine to burn the 07bios image to CD. I had to enter the bios (F2) and exit/resave even though the CD/DVD drive was already ahead of the HDD in the boot order to cause it to boot from the update disk (F12 did not work for me). Once I did that, it flashed the new 07 bios and wrote a new EC without incident. It appears to work fine.
-
initial idle temps look lower (260m), however i suspect it has more to do with the fact that it's so cold in the house right now.... FREEZING!
-

No difference in idle temps for me (5850).
-
A07 working on my 5850, even fixed the large pointer problem for me.

dell tech just dropped it off like 30mins ago, so i can't really say. but seems good. i will see if i have time to bench it tonight.

That will be fun. I think you're going to like it, but there's a lot of luck of the draw with these video cards from an overclocking perspective.
-
yeah crossing my fingers, hopefully this sucker is gonna be a beast.
-
-
-
embedded controller, controls the low level stuff like fan speeds, power management, that sort of stuff.
-
I went ahead and updated... No noticeable changes really.
-
The next bios release will contain the polling fix for the touch pad. Brian (erawaneila) mentioned this in the M17x forum.
-
-
-
Aight, so no reason to update the bios to A07
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Remember, it provides "enhanced YouTube performance." That's something.
-
Flashed to A07 successfully. On previous bios releases my video, nvidia 260m, failed diagnostic test. Video now passes diagnostic test, have tested twice and all is good.
-
I have been trying to update my driver to the A07 from dell website.... but it keeps making me save a download manager application.
but after i save the application, it says there is no files to d/l and ask me to go to dell website.
hence i cant do anything at all.... is there an alternative to d/l the latest bios driver? -
I'm pretty terrible with computers after not taking interest in them for a few years, so I was wondering when my M15X arrives could someone help me with updating the bios?
I need to know how this will effect drivers, and how not to break my machine lol. -
What browser are you using I find I have problems with the dell website if I use firefox have you tried using IE
-
I did my update to the bios and the graphics driver last night. I may be wrong but playing oblivion after the updates things were smoother. i was also able to select the natvie 1920X1080 resolution and i had no lag or frame drops.
fallout 3 looked good as well with all settings maxed. I still need to try Dragon Age. Overall I am happy with the updates. -

Hi Damien,
Ace is right. I had trouble downloading from Dell using Firefox, but as soon as I used Internet Explorer it worked fine. This should work -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Do not use Dell's Download Manager. Select the option to download through your browser, and it will download immediately.
