M15x Order Status Discussion

Hello guys, while I was checking the website I just figured my Estimated Delivery Date got updated.

Order Date: 7/26/2010
EDD: 8/12/2010
STATUS: In Production - Delivery Preperation (updated on 7/30/2010)
EDD according to DELL: 8/4/2010 (updated on 7/30/2010)
EDD according to FEDEX: 8/3/2010 (updated on 8/1/2010)
CARRIER: FedEX Ground
STATUS: Shipped (updated on 8/1/2010)
EDD according to FEDEX: 8/4/2010 (updated on 8/3/2010)
DELIVERED!: 8/4/2010 around 15:30

The wait is finally over, I got my M15x, best lucks for all of you. I hope this thread helps you new *orders* to better understand how long it takes and what are the steps.

Awesome! I made my order on the 28th so this is good news. My estimated delivery still reflects 8/11/2010. The sales rep did mention that previous customers typically receive their computers sooner than the first estimated date.

I hope we both get our new machines next week!

 

Technicly I'm a previous customer if that effects.
Long time ago, I talked with some people from Dell, and they told me the system automaticly puts the most late date and they actually give the package to cargo immediatly when the system is built.

Adderal, I believe that you'll receive your system between 6-10 of August.
Do you have 7 day cargo or??

 

I ordered my 15x on 7/27/10 and the EDD was 8/13/10, but the order got canceled due to I needed to talk to my bank and let them know the payment was accepted. So I got that fixed and had to reorder the laptop, but it was the same exact order just a different order number but now the EDD is 8/26/10. What is that about? Dell had no awnsers for me

 

Did you call them? When they tried to access your account if they got no money, they may have put you in something like a control list?

 

I'm a previous customer too, we got our Aurora ALX about six months ago. It was in-production for about three weeks before they shipped it out.

My estimated ship date still reflects 08/11/2010 as of today. I did however talk the salesman to give me free Next-Business Day delivery. So as soon as they put the damn thing together I'll get it soon after.

Half the hard drive size, half the ram, same processor, 5850 video card. Everything else is the same

 

You can replace the HDD or put one more stick of ram later, don't worry about them I just had a fixed budget that I can't go above or below(lol).
I think we'll receive the systems in similar dates(maybe 1 day diffrence at most). I hope they deliver it right on EDD.

 

Yea I did call them multiple times and they have told me there is no delay on my order, but can't give me an answer of why the EDD changed by two weeks. I also have the two-day shipping which should help, but we shall see. I just am so excited to get it, but having to wait is not fun .

 

I think your EDD will change in 1-2 weeks, so I shouldn't be worried much unless Dell is doing somekind "revenge" for the failed money transfer lol. But I heard they transfer the money when the system is shipped, I may be wrong. Check the forums there was something related to this as I remember.

 

I actually finally just talked to someone who helped me a little. They did tell me that the money does transfer the day it ships. They tell me it is in production, but when I call the the order status # it tells me it is being processed, so who knows? Hope to get it before I go back to school on the 23rd

 

If you buy via Dell Preferred Account, the money transfers the moment you push the buy button lol. And you can view order status in detail by your account. If you go to the order support page or call them, they see only "In Production" "Shipped" "Cancelled". However if you check with your account logged in, you can see whatever it is in Delivery Preperation and similar stuff.

 

Oh wow that would have been nice, but no I did not pay with preferred account. I will make sure to do that in the future! Thank you for the all the help

 

If you buy via DPA, you get 12 months no interest plus they can charge your money and put it back(if you cancel the order) anytime instantly. Its like their own bank

 

Okay order status just got updated, here is the new information:

Does anybody know if that weight is normal?

 

Good to see you got an update man. Is it it bad that I know my order number by heart because I have called to check the status so much? I still have had no change in my status Hope to see a change soon

 

Check the status once a day around 14:00 because all the updates I got happend after 12:00-1:00

You paid for this thing so its normal to check it that much

 

Thanks for the heads up man, I will make sure to look more around that time. By the way, how do you know where the laptop is being built at? I have seen that some are built or all are built in Malaysia, am I right in thinking that?

 

I don't know for sure where they are built at but yeah its Clevo in Malaysia I think.

 

Lucky! I haven't received any estimated updates at all. It still reflects the original date of 8/11/2010. To be fair, I only ordered just a few days ago (7/28). I'm just really anxious and excited.

I'm hoping it ships soon.

 

Mine is most likely arriving tomorrow or the next day but I think they wrote the name on specialized nameplate wrong :/ so if it comes wrong, I'll have to send the nameplate back for replacement.

 

My status is in the boxing stage! If anyone wants detailed information they should call this #8002543692. It is direct to alienware and they give much more specific info, instead of the same thing that dell has been saying for a week "your order is in process". Pretty happy about that

As you can see its coming from Georgia to Florida. I'm trying to understand why it got sent to Georgia in the first place FedEX's distribution center or something like that?

If all is correct, I'll be an "Alien" tomorrow

Nick, you are AWESOME! Thank you for that direct phone number. My order was done via EPP and it won't let me see detailed information on the check status website. That number worked like a charm. Unfortunately, my laptop is still in the build stage. Anyway +rep to you good sir!

 

I don't have a "fix" time period for boxing but it took around 3 days for me. Mainly because it was weekend. So I think it takes them a bussiness day or two(if they are overbusy?) bussiness day to ship after building.

 

Got mine this morning...wow its heavy...but it's awesome. The screen really is soo much nicer than the M11x which I sent back.

 

The wait is over, I got my M15x about 1-2 hours ago!
It looks perfect except 2 things.
The name plate (as I expected) is written wrong. I'll try to get it replaced somehow, no need to make a complete return and reorder.
While I was on battery with disabled AlienFX, there was some unexpected blue lights appearing for less than a second and disappearing around the F buttons(top line), then later doing the same. Is that something expected or my brand new alienfx is just dieing??? Anyways I'll open a new thread for those as this topic is meant for people to understand how long the delivery processes take.

I'm still in confusion why mine is taking so long compared to you guys. I ordered on 7/27 and made it 2-day shipping. My EDD is still 8/26... Hmmmm

 

My order was placed 7/28 and the EDD was listed as 8/11 (Next-day Shipping). I am also getting really impatient as it's been in the 'build' stage for a week now. Still, the 11th isn't too far away. I was really hoping it would ship sooner as many people here have experienced.

You'll notice that some items when configuring your system can sometimes delay the order further. I believe that the SSD (which you ordered) can delay building the system by upwards of 12 or so days. That might be why your EDD is so much later than most.

 

one of the SSDs and 1080p had a 5 day delay as I remember.

 

You got your 940XM from Dell? Awww, you could've saved some money by installing it yourself. :S


And I got my system within a 10 days or so.

 

Yes, it was 128 GB SSD that was a 12 day delay, I was going to get that one, but didn't want the delay. So I went with the more pricey 256 GB SSD because I thought I would get it sooner. "Looks at the floor (while simultaneously saying FAIL)"

 

Updated today to shipped! EDD is 8/9/10, pretty excited!

Congratulations! I called in to check on mine and it updated to preparing shipment. Hopefully it updates to shipped by this afternoon.. otherwise I'll probably end up getting it on Monday. Of course I'll get it AFTER the weekend! XD
