Yeaht, good idea... I once saw in his signature that he claims to have a working 480m in his M15x... unfortunately he didn't seem to have written a thread about it. I wanted to PM him about his 480m a while ago and ask for some information, but somehow I totally forgot about it. It would be really intriguing to now some details about his work.

Anyway, thanks for all your effort so far, Inap!!

I may be interested in taking it off your hands and experimenting more but I dunno, I'm scared that it would be a lost cause...

The largest difference I'm seeing there is the Bus Interface and subvendor id, I don't know enough about the pci bus to say if that's something that would cause a clash or not though.

If we still think its a PSU issue, you could try severely under-clocking your 940xm to like 700mhz or something insanely low lol.

I seem to remember you stating that the Sager/Clevo driver didn't install, so I'm editing the 263.09 inf to include the extra strings from the Clevo inf as it has a total of 4 entries for the 470m and 5 for the 460m. Will upload when done.

Ok I've attached 2 be sure to change the extensions back to inf.
The nvcv is obviously the clevo and the nv_disp is the universal one. Try the clevo one first, then the other one...

modded nvcv does not work, something is missing that wouldn't let the install run.
tried to use the modded inf for the 460m driver, no go also.

i am sure i can dig up a i3 processor from somewhere if you need it INAP but not sure if that will make a difference. Sounds like a software or update related issue then power draw.

yeah i can prolly rip one out of one of my other notebooks, but those aren't as simple to take apart as the M15x is. really doubt that it can make a difference anyways. but will see when i get home after work.

I really doubt it's a power issue, as there are systems with almost identical hardware specs to the M15x but with just a 120W PSU, running with a 470m...

just think inap, if you can find out a way to put a 10 in front of that score you'll have the top of the board again lol, there's gotta be something we're missing here this card should work. Did you try emailing the guy on the one bios editor to see if he could add support for it to try to work the vbios?

Not yet. I'm still on temporary duty status at a location that doesn't have internet access. (Yes, those still exist here in the 'States'. :p) I'm almost done though, having only 2 weeks to go and then 22 days of vacation before heading back home to HI. Once I get back, I'm sending it in to 'The Mothership' for repairs. :p So for about 5 months now I've been rocking my M11X(R1). This thing is a champ! :D

Inap - Their is a person in the ACER forums that sometimes provides bios updates, meaning he updates and re-packages them. Have you tried to reach out to see if he can add what is needed for the m15x and the 470?

I think his name is KIZWAN

    Thanks, Stevenx

Oh, that's a good idea... there's a user on the sager-clevo forums who lately managed to edit the vbios of the 480m for overclocking. His name is Soviet Sunrise, I haven't read a lot in the sager clevo forums, but it seems he knows quite a lot about such stuff.

Don't bother asking Soviet, because he won't even consider editing a random users vBIOS.

Anyway, I was messing around with that 470M BIOS in NiBitor. Opening it up as an 8800M GTX allowed me to edit the 3D and 2D clocks. Then I saved it back as the unsupported 470M ID strings.

thanks for all the responses guys, i really don't what to flash this card. too risky for such an expensive card, hehehehe. i'm gonna try out powerimizer and a few other drivers. if don't work then i'm gonna call it fail. sorry for not going all out and flashing but its too expensive for me to brick.

Yeah I don't advise flashing especially with the whole opening as a 8800m gtx thing (no offence Kevin) but there are too many variables. I might want a go but I'd have to think about it. Hopefully powermizer will work.

well powermizer is a bust too. arrghhhh i think thats it guys. the last few days have been a huge headache for me but i guess it worth it to know that the 470m will not work. also from what i've heard some clevo owners are having the same problem, seems to be some kind of mobo revision for 470m to work.
there can be a small chance that it may work for someone who just ordered the laptop with a 460m, but who knows. man i think i have to do another clean install on my ssd. so many drivers and oc tools installed and uninstalled and reinstalled, hahahah

dang it was so looking forward to benching this card. sorry guys i tried and failed.

You could sell it on to someone who has a 460m in their M15x. And see what they can do with it. However, we still haven't ruled out that the card is faulty in itself.
