Heres hoping that the title of this thread was clear enough .
I've always used CCC in the past.... I was young the last time I had a powerful desktop to stupidly fool around with (well Im only 19 now, but you get the point) and I always maxed out CCC settings with some stable clocks.
Now that I've gotten my M15x I simply do not want to over clock it (personal preference) and I was wondering what settings CCC should be ran at (if at all).
The answer might be obvious, this post may be stupid, but for the sake of me not knowing I'd love to hear what you guys recommend! .
OR. If people could recommend stable clocks w/ stock voltage for the 5850 and the i7 740m that would be great too.
Thanks in advance!

Bump!!!
Any luck inap? -
oops sorry bro. so far i just set everything to performance and other stuff i just let the application decide, power play enabled, and overdrive off because i use amd clock tools.
-
Is there a certain way you should set the CCC?
-
hmm, i'm looking for settings in nvidia control panel of 260m too, should i create a new post for that ?

There is actually no reason to change factory CCC settings because it all comes already tweaked(it did in my case). The most important two factors is keeping PowerPlay ON with High Performance(which would be standart in factory settings) AND letting applications decide HD, 3D features, in the other words not messing with them unless you know what you do .

These settings will mostly allow you to tweek inside your games so you don't have to mess with CCC.
CCC 3D options
smoothvision aliasing ..... use application
smoothvision filtering ..... use application
Catalyst AI .................... Advanced. From my tests has little effect if your settings are low but adds a few frames a sec if they are set to high.
Mipmap Detail Level ........ Performance. NOT high performance else your textures look washed out.
Wait for vertical refresh .. off, unless application specifies. Makes screen look silky, worth the odd frame skip, again you can set your game to turn it off.
Anti-Aliasing .................. Performance
Tripple Buffering ............ No tick.
Power Play must be turned on else it fixes your clock speed to arround 50% capacity e.g. 300MHz instead of 100Mhz idle and 625MHz when busy.
Other posts have mentioned this program for benchmarking but its also good to get instant feedback of changes you make both visually and fps.
I think "Tessellation - normal" is like high/ultra in games.

Which version of ATI Tool are you guys using cause I can't seem to find the one that works for the 5850 online.
If you guys can post the link to the download I would gladly appreciate it!! -

software oc's are fine and safe for the most part, you just have to keep an eye out for temps.
just used amd clock tools linked above. just put it your new clocks and set it. one of the most easiest oc tools around.
M15x ATI 5850 CCC (best settings).
