    Hi all :)

Well my m15x took a blow the other day from a flying toy, scratched the bezel protecting the screen which unfortunatly went right through the gloss layer and just into the plastic behind it.

I need to replace the bezel. Unfortunatly it seems that the only thing I can get from alienware is the bezel and the screen combined, not what I want to do, it just seems stupid to have to replace a perfectly fine lcd screen just to replace the thing that is there to protect it! xD

Trouble is, I just cannot find one anywhere and was wondering if anyone could help me out at all? Any help would be really very welcome, feel free to ask me any questions etc too :)

    Thanks for your time.

That's because there is no bezel but a edge to edge plexy that's glued to the LCD itself, stupid, i know
Your best option right now, if you don't want to buy another screen assembly, would be to remove the remaining plexy and do one yourself. Or don't use a protective plexy and just create a bezel yourself to hide everything else but the screen.

Aye, not clever but hey they live and learn I guess!

My prefered option would be to get hold of a replacement, but the thought had crossed my mind into making a new one.

Have you seen the assembly IRL katalin? Opened up and all? I havent yet, all I have to go on is this picture from an out of stock pchub... Dell Alienware M15x LCD Front Bezel

Looks like the front plastic is attached to the lcd caddy... Hmmm, realistically how difficult would it be to make a copy?

Edit: I did wonder about cutting the window out of it and leaving the back edges behind also, but, idk any of this diy will probably just look tacky! :D

This is what i was talking about earlier:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/7798598-post83.html

Speedy Gonzalez did it to a M18x, completely removing the E2E plexy and making a custom bezel covered in vinyl just to hide the sides of the LCD.
This way you lose the gloss too

Hello Grommit42! I bought once from this website ( link) and they used to have the bezel for sale not long ago (currently out of stock). I would ask them if they're planning on re-stocking soon. Hope this helps.

    Hey Chinopr :)

Yes I'm on their waiting list to be contacted if they get any stock in! Had not thought about getting in contact with them directly tho.

    Cheers!

The AR coat that is on this monitors is not really very good because of the shine of the screen, just take the monitor off and hit it with some 800grit sand paper, then move to 2000 grit. Once all the AR coat is off then just grab some fine buffing polish to bring it down to a perfect shine. It take about an hour (less if you have a dremel sand/buffer) I did this on my first m15x and on a m17x rev 1.

Also if you have reflection problems there are stick-on films you can put on the monitor to take care of it.
