Oh man, I love the purple color on it! Awesome!
EDIT: I meant violet![]()

Had some problems recently with the purple paint, not only does it dry reaaaly slowly, also on the lid while making the gloss topcoat it developed a nasty cracky spiderweb, so I believe it's gonna be another few layers after removing the damage :/ I was hoping it'll be time for transplant in the coming days...
But, as an upside, it looks gorgeous. The silent violet silver colour was, well, silver, but during treating it with topcoat id revealed a slight pinkish hue, which goes well with the design. Will post some pictures tomorrow. -
That was the issue I was getting with my M18x lid, the "cracky spiderweb". The base coats seemed to be going down fine but it all went to hell when applying the clear coat. I put it down to me trying to rush the coats (even though I was applying as per instructions). I had to completely strip it down to bare again.
This time I am taking it super slow. I've done the base coats over a week doing 2 light coats and then leaving it a full 48 hours to cure. I did 2 more coats (coats 5 and 6) last night and hopefully that will be it for the white base. I am going to leave the base coat for a week before starting the clear, which I'll take super slow. I think this should eliminate the cracking.
If it happens again then I'm going to frisbee this lid as far as it can go! -
Quick update on the $50 M15x that had a broken power jack.
It’s been sitting at the repairer for a fair while now since he said that there was a short on the board after he replaced the jack. He thought that maybe it was something he did so he removed it and tried again but he was still finding a short with no power from the jack. He ended up ripping the jack back out and I was just going to grab the board and throw it on the pile. I had given him a second jack so before I picked it up I asked him to solder it in anyway. He said there was still a short somewhere. Oh well, $50 wasted on the attempts plus a couple of jacks for $10.
I got it back today and thought, what the hell I may as well put the old girl back together and see what happens.......

Seems I got swindled a little bit by the original seller. It’s has a 740QM and not the 920XM like they said in the listing. I guess for $31 plus shipping I can’t get too mad.

Second that. Also, any update on the AlienFX?

-
@MrMogwai any luck grabbing one of those programmers?
-
Not yet, but it's still available. I don't know about getting it, don't have anything with LPT anymore... :/
-
Can you get a LPT - USB adapter?
-
Still a bit to do but it’s coming together slowly.

Interesting thread. I read the whole thing.

Unfortunately it seems that the new board has a faulty memory slot as only one is being recognised in the BIOS -
