Hey guys,
So i have been wondering how well crysis 2 will run on the m15x.
Will it take as much as the first crysis or will it take less since it has a console port? i have been too lazy to download the demo, but i heard the grapichs customization is pretty poor ( you cant change to much graphics wise). and i have no thought of downloading the leaked game. but does anyone have an idea on how well it will run? i have the i7 820QM and Nvidia 260m and 8gb ddr3 ram.
Hope to get a good topic going here.

i have an nvidia gtx 460m with an i7 720qm and there are 3 graphics presets. gamer advanced and hardcore(in that order). i can play it on 1920 by 1080p resolution with advanced graphics and im gettin on average 30fps.
-
i have it on 1080p and hardcore setting at stock clock(gtx460m i7 740qm). i can say it is considered as playable. It is a beta so we cant predict how the graphics will be when the game is released. i game at advanced and lower resolution mostly.

Yeah thats the thing, there is 3 pre-sets, but as you know in the original game there were so much damn graphical customization, so you guys think that if there is as much customization as in the first one, that it will even run smooth? i would personally think it will take more power because the graphics look better than the first, so one would think it would take more power to play...

Ok so that made me a bit confused, so what settings and fps can i/we expect?
-
I have a 460m GTX Overclocked to 800core and 1500shader. On hardcore graphics I can play the Skyline level really smooth at 1080p. Pier 17 is tougher on the graphics because of higher draw distance but it is still doable. There is a big jump between advanced and hardcore because of AA but advanced still looks great. I'm guessing you can get away with playing on advanced graphics and still enjoy it.

Ok, that should be enough for me ; )

you can upgrade your gpu to gtx460m or the hd5850 you will notice performance jump from the gtx260m.

Yeah, i dont think i will do this because i "just" bought my alienware for 3000dollar so thats not in my mind atm, though i might end up upgrading in the future.
-
$3000 for the m15x? ,i thought a maxed m17x r2 should cost that kind of money.
-
$3000 WOW, With that u could have gotten 2 mx 15x, not even getting one with the i7 940xm and everything else at top spec would cost u that much....

try it out for yourself:

Crysis2 MP is a serious disappointment. The performance however is good compared to the old crysis wars. Gamer and Advanced you can hit 50-70fps no issues. I use the Radeon Pro tool to adjust the AA/AF. Other folks have also introduced new startup parameters to eliminate motion blur. Hardcore i hit around 30-40fps.

Was playing on advanced and hardcore with a graphics card that people consider to be a shame on a M15X and I did well in the game. I didn't enjoy the game however, nothing to do with the frame rates, just wasn't a game I enjoyed playing although I had never played the first Crysis and not sure how the whole thing works yet. I did however have some additional features turned off.

Yeah it was quite expensive, it was 16000DKK go and translate that to dollar :S
but yeah the alienware has gotten cheaper.... -

Alright i just played my first game of Crysis 2, it runs perfectly smooth on pier 16 when i have my settings at advanced and then have lowered the resolution a little. so thats fine with me ; ) but ill see if i can up the resolution a little. and i bought my alienware before last summer, so as i remember they were abit more expensive than they are now
EDIT: it dident cost 3000dollar, it cost around 2600dollar but back then the dollar was higher, i remember 2600 dollar being around 15000-16000DKK which is the valuta from where i live. and if i shift 15000-16000DKK its around 3000dollar now.
EDIT: just went to Alienwares website and made a m15x with my specs and it was 2500-2600USD. And a Maxed out m17x is 3959USD ; )
EDIT: ok this is alot of edits.... well i just tweaked the resolution to 1080p 1920x1200 i think it is, and that runs pretty smooth with advanced settings, but i can imagine when we can change the graphics like shaders and such we can make it run really good. -
Pretty sure your resolution should be set to 1920x1080 (1080p). Probably give you a performance boost as well.

You stated that you tweaked it to 1920x1200 res, which is higher than the res that your screen actually is. Your res should be set to 1920x1080. Not 1920x1200. Of course you could set it lower than 1920x1080, though.
-
edit: i mean u cant change ur res to 1200p. nt even an option in the game. -
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
and i know i dont have 1200 on my m15x ; ) i just couldent remember the last figure, and i dont think you can tweak your screen to higher res than it actually is, im not sure you might be able to.... -
