That'll happen if you accidently enter stealth mode, make sure it is turned off!

When I first start up BF3 (before the crashing fun), sometimes my game will run smoothly (40-60fps) and other times it'll be super choppy (15-30fps), does anyone know why this happens? Stealth mode is off.

I'm running BF3 at ultra at 768, with no AA, No Occlusion, no motion blur and medium shadows. I get around 45-50 fps with dives to the high 30s occaisonally. I have 8gbs of RAM, i7 940xm and 6970m, is this right? What should I get at 1080p?

Ebay, I paid about 350 for it, but it's weird, I think I really should be getting better performance, I mean, I am running it at 768, it looks good, but maybe I'm hoping for too much. I haven't found an OC combination thats been successful yet, I've tried and just gotten shutdowns.

It sounds great to me. I normally get 22-30 fps with the standard hardware on medium

    Hey all,
I'm having random bouts of lag while playing BF3 online. I'm not running any thing other than Fraps, Chrome, and BF3. I'll be going at a nice 40-60 fps and then it'll drop down to 12 or so for a few seconds and come back up. Temps are alright, nothing over 75c after an hour or so of gaming. Any thoughts?

I have same "lag" too ...
Through some period GPU Core clock and Memory clock drops to 300/400, and than go up to normal state.
CPU oc to x20-22 for all 4 cores.
    GPU co to 900/1150/1.15V.

I've been having that issue for the past few weeks. I thought it was my card. changing my power performance settings from 100% to 85% helped.

It looks like it's my card, it keeps downlocking to 203mhz core, 405mhz shader, and 324mhz memory. This is ridiculous, it's happening every other 30 seconds or so. I'm on 296.10 and temps are at a steady 67c.

Update your bios to A08, this fixed the issue for me when I'd be stroking magic framerates and then it would drop down to low frames for a few seconds. UPDATE THE BIOS!!

    just for reference.

Just tried this game out and although it ain't particularly fun it wasn't as demanding on the hardware as I thought either. I ran everything on ultra but turned anisotropic and antialising off at 1080p. Stock clocks the temps on the GPU didn't top 75C and the CPU hit about 70C max with 22/22/25/25 gaming OC. Very fluid fps. Maybe I will stick some of the above settings up and perhaps it will look a little nicer. Not impressed at all.

Don't see the need to upgrade to the 7970M quite yet... the graphics are no better than modern warfare game in my opinion. Crysis 2 is better.

Hey man, i had the same problem with my pc, the beta worked fine until they upgraded the drivers, and now i can't play bf3 on my alienware m15x... I have the nvida 9800gt and need to upgrade the driver from 186.03 to the 275.000 , but when i do, it siply won't let it run games or anything on my pc and the graphics card is pretty much switched off, can you play bf3 now, my alienware m15x have 3 gb ram, nvidia Geforce 9800gt, 2.5ghz processor , think you can help, all games run fine on my current 2007 driver, but i need to up grade for bf3 ..?
