Ive been having a bit of trouble with my 7970m.

It seems like after a few hours of gaming, the screen either goes grey or green and I have to hard shutdown the computer. Then whenever I start my computer up, it shows a green screen after a few minutes. And the card wasnt even that hot, in fact I think it was actually throttled since it wasnt performing nowhere near as I thought it would

Removing the graphics drivers solves all problems with the card, however I cant play games without graphics drivers.

There were also times when the screen would not turn on when I turned the alienware laptop off and the caps and scroll lock buttons would flash. Reseting the bios by removing the little coin battery and holding down the power button solved this

Then there was a problem where whenever I tried to play a youtube video, I would get a grey screen. However, reinstalling adobe flash solved this problem

The fact that it works fine with the drivers removed makes me think its a driver issue.

Ive tried everything I can think of to fix it. I made sure it was properly seated and enough thermal paste applied. I tried just about every vbios from the techinferno vbios pack. I tried underclocking it with MSI afterburner.\

I'm at a loss of what to do. Maybe someone can tell me which version of AMD drivers they use with their 7970m, as I'm using the most recent ones from AMD's website on mine

Are you using a beta driver or the regular catalyst driver?

the latest 14.4 I think should work perfectly fine, are you sure you have covered all the parts required with thermal pads ? is there enough pressure applied to the die from the heatsink ?
have you uninstalled the older drivers correctly (and removed all the left over files) before installing newer ?

Have you tried a clean installation of Windows or AlienRespawn?

Yeah im sure im not using beta drivers.

Yes I removed all the old drivers using DDU. I doubt its from overheating since the temp usually is never that high
