Hey guys,
I haven't been on in a while since I've been busy lately, but I started running Battlefield 3 again and it's just crashing all over. I don't know what to do anymore even after getting the new drivers and trying to change around clocks. Is there anything else to try? This is incredibly frustrating, especially since it seems that everyone else's computer is running fine.
I don't think this matters much..but does using two screens affect my flashed vbios? aka Would playing BF3 with an external monitor have a different overall result than not using one (crashing vs not)?

it'll need more GPU power to run on external monitor hence more heat. the only advice from someone who also had issues but is fine now (touch wood) is to apply lots of thermal pads. meaning front and back of the gpu, i even paste the ram itself. the main focus for me is still to apply thermal pads on the card. try flo's method too where he pad his capacitor of the card. refer to around page 140 (plus minus, i can't remember the exact page) of 'what you need to know' thread for the pictures, should be attached around mid to bottom of the page.

Hm I'll take a look at that and see what I can do. So you had random shutdowns that were fixed by this method? Also, is your card clocked or is just at stock settings?

stock @ 1V dell vbios

thanks a lot! +Rep Hopefully it works. I'll post again after I'm able to tune up my computer again (after finals) >.<

COOL-SILVER? Thermal Pad: Phase Change Thermal Compound | eBay Is this a good thermal pad to get? If not, what would you recommend?
-
other people in the forum says fujipoly from frozencpu is good. for me to be honest. i use double sided tape with foam in the middle type.
haha
as for the recommendations of the pad i'll leave it to others because i have no clue also. -

Thermal Tape for Voltage Regulators - Danger Den
Get some of those, I use those for my graphics card and whatever else needs them. -
I think I'm going to order the Fujipoly; from reading flo's post he said to use 4mm, can I just buy the 1mm thickness and then stack 4 of them together, or do I not actually need a 4mm thickness?
-
I would just buy some 4mm off ebay if u can, i dont now about stacking but i dont see it hurting anything... But its a hell of a way to go thru some fine fujipoly pads....
-
Yeah, thats how I kind of felt too since everyone was saying it is so good I found daoshen0449 | eBay which seems to be good. What W/mK should I be aiming for? What's considered too low?
-
Well typically the thicker they get the lower the w/mk gets. If your getting .5mm or 1mm grab a 6w/mk, something comparable to fujipoly

Looking at flo's post, he used 4mm, so I'm just wondering do I actually need to get 4mm total thickness, or do I just need to cover those specific areas with any thickness pad? I would aim for the 6 W/mK, I just don't know if it is...thick enough? -
It should be thick enough if anything they r too thick, but since they are soft they should be fine, the idea is to have it make contact with the heatsink.
-
Hm, alright. Thanks a lot!
