I haven't read any posts where people have had success cloning HDD's to SSD's. I wonder if you could do this:

1 - Make a Windows System Image of your HDD and have it saved to your SSD.
2 - Copy the folder WindowsImageBackup from your SSD over to the HDD.
3 - Swap the HDD out for the SSD.
3 - Launch Windows 7 Repair and restore from a system image. It should find the image on the HDD and allow you reimage it to the SSD.

It's a lot of steps, but less (I imagine) than the work you put into trying to make a bootable USB.

So your AW does NOT have an optical drive that you put your recovery discs in?

You shouldn't need to do this with a USB drive. The intent of bootable USB drives was for technicians who install windows all the time over many machines.

i dont have an external drive, and seem like the bootable usb is my only option since it's much cheaper than optical.

So, you have TWO slots for hard drives in your AW, then?

Not an issue :p Most 11.6" laptops are configured the same way.

But yeah, no CD Drive (my old SuperSlim PRO didn't have one, either).
