I recently just downloaded a 1080p mkv music video and I'm playing it with vlc, but it's lagging. any suggestions on how and what I should use so that the video will play smoothly? I have my m11xr1 oc'd and so is the gpu

also, if I wanted to update my nvidia gpu, where would I find the drivers? off dell's site or somewhere else?

My M11x (w/ Core I5--which is close in performance to the SU7300) averages 10-15% of the cpu and maybe 25% max playing 1080p (that's without vlc's gpu acceleration--discussed later), so first thing I'd do is check what's running in the background to make sure nothing else is eating up your cpu.

Second thing I do you already said--update your drivers. You can get some from support.dell.com, or if you search the forum because someone packaged a newer version for the R1 than is on Dell's website.

Third thing I'd do (if you haven't already) is enable gpu acceleration--which is a vlc setting that allows vlc to use your gpu rather than your cpu. This should make it work better even without using the 335m. On mine, vlc takes up like 2% cpu max doing this and has no lag playing 1080p files. Anyway, make sure you have the latest vlc (1.1.3), boot up vlc, hit ctrl-p, go to Video, and check the boxes for "Accelerated video output (Overlay)" and "Use hardware YUV->RGB conversions".

Agree. The 335's only purpose in life should be games.
