    hey guys,

was enjoying some crysis 2 on my 3 month old r2, when suddenly the right speaker crackled a little and fell silent,

exited the game made sure it wasnt the game, reset the machine, still no sound
tried moving the balance of the right speaker in the volume settings and theres not a peep out of it,

, however recently i have noticed it saying " you have unplugged a plug from the audio port " even when nothings plugged in.

anyway think i should call alienware? and can someone point me to a uk number pls?

I'd try reinstalling your sound drivers to be sure. If that doesn't work:

0800 2799751. Select option 2 for technical support.

As I remember, the speakers are 'plugged' into the I/O board. This board supports the two USB 2.0 and audio. The I/O board is 'press' connected onto the motherboard.

If one was like me (and I'm not suggesting this is a good thing) you could check that the speaker cable is plugged firmly into the I/O board.

Update - Just had a quick look at the documentation and to get at the speaker connection looks like almost a complete strip down of the system.

    Call DELL I say.

Check device manager and see if the device is working properly or even recognized... Do a fresh clean install of the drivers if anything to at least eliminate it being a software problem... Use the ones on Dells M11xR2 support downloads
