Lately my m11x r1 had decided that once I go below 80% of my battery, it's dead. I've attempted reconnecting the battery internally, formatting, discharging then recharging the battery to no avail.

I am of course out of warranty and from what I saw it will cost about $200+ to replace the battery.

Is there anything i'm overlooking? After the track record i've had with my m11x (hinge, bad mobo, bad screen) I am not so eager to get a new one.

    Is this hopeless?

Batteries die unfortunately. They can die rather quickly depending on use. Today's LI-ION batts have a set # of charge cycles.

Not much can be done with a failing battery.

With the current prices of the 11x, its tough to really weigh the cost of purchasing a replacement battery from Dell or use that cash towards a new 11x or another system.

The hinge issue really shouldn't be a factor since there is a resolution to it. If you haven't already done so, have AW conduct the hinge replacement. In the end, its what you want to invest in I guess.

If you do decide to go with a replacement battery, I urge you to consider purchasing directly from Dell. The Dell battery will be covered for a 1 year period. I've tried aftermarket batts and have been burned more than once to know never to go with cheap aftermarket batts again.

The R1 is still a cool little notebook in my opinion. Having the ability to switch GPUs manually is a handy feature.

Aye, I really loved this notebook when it was working. Seems like I spent about half my time troubleshooting it though. I really don't want to invest into the battery at this point, but trying to find a viable replacement is also difficult. The r3 looks so shiny but I'm worried about being burned yet again.

Curse your pretty lights and appealing aesthetics!!
