hey guys,
my 11r2 has started to squeal, its quiet for the most part, more noticeable when i am in bed, however sometimes it gets quite loud and then tapers off,
if you unplug the power lead it goes off again, and only seems to be when its charging
is this something to be worried about?
i am pretty sure its not the fan, its cleaned regularly, and it doesn't sound mechanical. its more in the middle of the machine..

It may be that the computer is getting hotter than before and loading the fans.

the fan is already running, its only when the powercord is in and charging, i have had a game trying to capture it on cam as its very hard to pick up but i assure you it is quite loud,
here is a video

unplugged at 12s mark
you can deffo hear the fan in the background, i clean it reguarly, and like i said, unplugged it stops , sometimes its real quiet, and sometimes it gets quite loud, coming in bursts then dissapearing,
blue= on charge
yellow= unplugged -
It almost has to be one of these:
- Cooling Fan
- Hard Drive (if you have one)
- Optical Drive (if you have one)

It is not the cooling fan, hard drive, or the optical drive. My M11X makes this sound also. See this thread for other discussions on the subject and a possible fix. Here's a few other users discussing it too. I haven't tried the fix yet, but I'm going to give it a whirl soon.
Here is a review of the M11X from Notebook Check. They have pointed out the same whine.
Quoted from the article:
System Noise
Talking about annoying: As we unfortunately could observe in more and more test devices lately, the M11x R2's adapter partly emits a quiet whine, which is why the adapter should be stowed as far as possible under the desk. A minor whistling could also be heard from the notebook, in the area of the fan, when listening closer. Because everyone has a slightly different noise sensitivity, such interferences can annoy some users, whereas others shouldn't have any problems with it. Nevertheless, we found the noise development better than in the first M11x, which proved to be more present especially under load.
