there are 2 4gb ram and im not sure which one im supposed to get
there is one that is 2 piece kit 2x2
4GB kit (2GBx2), 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3-8500 upgrades for Alienware M11x (Core i5/i7) Laptop/Notebook, CT1268919 from Crucial.com
And one that is just one piece
4GB, 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3-10600 upgrades for Alienware M11x (Core i5/i7) Laptop/Notebook, CT1268915 from Crucial.com
which one am i supposed to get or does it even matter
-
The 2 X 2 GB ones.
I don't think a single 4 GB RAM will work on its on in the M11x.
Though I may be mistaken. -
so if i have 2gb one in the computer now can i just but 1 2gb instead of 2
and how do i put them in i know were they go and stuff do i just stack them and put them in, or what? -
They are stacked.
I know the vid doesn't show it being put back together, but check this out:
YouTube - Alienware M11x Teardown **READ SAFETY PRECAUTIONS PRIOR TO REPLACING PARTS** (Official Video)
Just wait till the RAM part comes. -
great and one last question
could i just buy this
2GB, 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3-10600 upgrades for Alienware M11x (Core i5/i7) Laptop/Notebook, CT1268929 from Crucial.com
and save $50 there are 2 2gb one says pc3-8500 and pc3 10600
whats the difference? -
Well apparently, PC3 represents the "theoretical bandwith"
I have no clue(as I am just amateur tech person) what that exactly means though. -
thanks for the info, do i have to buy the kit or just buy 1 2gb
-
Not sure, wait for other people's opinion.
Though I do recall something in my Computer ED(took it 2 years ago) about how both RAM pieces have to be the exact same or something like that. Though I could be mistaken.
need help choosing which ram
