Hey everyone,
Last night I had trouble installing my 335m drivers from either dell or nvidia, and after following guides EXACTLY on this forum. I kept getting a no hardware change error on the installation screen for the drivers.
But anyway, what I decided to do was go to the device manager and locate the 335m's properties. I clicked "Update Drivers" and chose the save location on my computer for the 258.96 WHQL drivers.
So it seemed to successfully install that way the way drivers do, my screen blinked and it said "successfully installed".
But I feel like something may have went wrong... Look at this
How come the update date says 4/7/2010 and the driver version is 8.16..11.8969?
Sorry for this wall of txt. But I'm really desperate for some help here. I''m pretty frustrated with INSTALLING DRIVERS. I mean the easiest thing to do, seems to be the hardest to me with this laptop lol
Thanks so much for your help in advance

For some reason it has installed the older drivers instead.

Okay, I've managed to get somewhere with this thing. But Instead of saying 7/19/2010, it now says 7/9/2010. Shouldn't it say 7/19/10 because that was the date the drivers were released?
Is this what everyone elses says with the brand new drivers from nvidia?

Why not just use the automatic setup and install everything? Just installing the driver in the device manager will not give you the best performance.

@tk
Mine also say 7/9, but as long as it's working fine, the date doesn't matter does it? Another way to check to see what your driver version is to do this.
Right click on your window -> nvidia control panel -> help -> system information
If it says 258.96 then you're good. -
Uninstall driver
Reboot to Safemode
Driversweeper "nvidia display"
Reboot
install new driver
How come some ppl have trouble with this? I don't get it. -
Thanks a lot for the help,
Achilles, that's not hard at all. I did that... the error still occured. But I'm fine now. I just forgot to install chipset drivers for it haha.
Called a dell rep, and he walked me through it. Thanks everyone -
