My R2's keyboard backlight isn't uniform regardless of which color is chosen.

All of the keys on the far left are somewhat orange/red. It's a little difficult to see in this photo, but it's very easy to see in person.

Anyone have any idea whether this is something I can fix?

slickie88, I just check my computer and it looks like yours. Frankly, I wouldn't worry about it.

as stated by Batboy and several others before:

it is not possible to backlight the keyboard in a way that every color gets a pristine look, because Dell has only a limited number of LED's (or whatever they use) at hand.

BTW: my keyboards left side looks exactly the same.

I find that 'Yoda Green' looks the best on the 11x ;)

As others have mentioned, yep - your keyboard lighting looks perfectly normal. There will be areas where certain key edges will not have a full uniform look as other key edges. Each key does not have its own backlight for the entire area of the key.

Before the question is asked, yes - white is not a true white as the LEDs have to 'mix it up'. White has never looked white - more of a white pinkish/red look. :(

Your keyboard is working as expected. No need to replace it as they all look like this pretty much. This is due to the design and the placement of the LEDs underneath the keyboard.

That's the color I've been happiest with too. I thought for purposes of the photo that white would be easier to see.

If this is normal, that's fine. Rather distracting though.

My R2 actually had pretty even lighting on the keyboard, but it got noticeably dimmer on the left side after my screen was replaced. :(

Different colors will show the issue with the LEDs on the left hand side more than others. Reds and blues are pretty much perfect, whereas white, greens and yellows are pretty bad.

EDIT: Actually the primary colors are the one that are good. Red, green and blue. It's some of the in-between colors that require a mixing of those primaries that have the unfortunate bleed effect on the left.

I find red looks okay, but anything else looks significantly dimmer on the left side of my keyboard, even blue and green. The escape key, in particular, is almost not lit up at all.

It was fine before my screen was replaced, so I'm not sure if the tech messed something up while he replaced it or not. After he finished replacing the screen, the keyboard was sticking out a lot above the base. I told him it wasn't like that before and asked him to fix it, which he did, but I think he might have messed up the LED for the keyboard in the process.

Take photos and call Dell requesting that they replace the keyboard.
