I tried asking this in the 11x posts, but they get shuffled to fast.

Has anybody bought the laptop with the WAN with the gps? Can the gps be used without the wan? Meaning, can I use the GPS with MS Streets and such? Or only if I buy wireless att/etc connection?

If your map program already has all the maps pre loaded and and GPS is a true gps then you shouldn't need to use a wireless connections.

For example, in my iphone I can still get gps coordinates through an app I use with the sim card out, however since the maps need to be loaded through google I can't see my location on the map.

    I have WWAN + GPS.

Without activating the WWAN (AT&T), I am able to go to Google maps and track my location (there's a dot that appears underneath the zoom bar that allows me to check my current location).

Thanks! I was wondering if it would be good to order it or not. Does the signal pickup well? I hope better than the one in my cellphone. :)

Being I would use this laptop on the go, this would be a good feature. then I wouldn't get lost when I goto the mainland. Yet have a map big enough to see.
