4GB...? Does it show the same thing in the BIOS? CPU-z? Task Manager? If it's the task manager, then it's showing ram that's not being utilized. If it's anything else, I'm already looking into it... though I would love more info, pelase :)

I think it's DVMT... hold on, I'll try and confirm.

Now I don't think it's the Intel DVMT... The Intel is still active when the nVidia is active on the R1. I dunno why, but maybe it has to do with how the chipset works?

Now I am reasonably certain it's the Intel GMA 4500MHD. I wonder:

Install latest Intel 4 series Express drivers (chipset/IGP)
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19336&ProdId=2991&lang=eng

    Install Intel INF update
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18494&ProdId=2991&lang=eng

would have any effect... though everything I see reguards the issue as caused by using a 32bit OS (which is not your problem).

AFAIK (and recall) there is no way to change DVMT in the BIOS.

hoping someone can shed some light, even disabling the Intel doesn't change the amount of ram...

Try using one stick at a time. See if swapping sticks helps. I've done quite a bit of reading on this, and everybody has a different answer.
