Sorry for the late reply, I've been planning on doing this for a while, but haven't had a monitor to connect my M11x or PS3 to.

I managed to get this working by doing the following:

    Download and extract the following:
http://tinyurl.com/sonyvrp - Sony Vaio Remote Play
http://rapidshare.com/files/431061175/VRPPatch.zip - Remote Play Patch by RichDev.

Install the Vaio Remote Play software and restart.

Once you've rebooted, you need to patch SVRP.

Open Run by pressing the Windows key + R (or by clicking start then run)

    Paste in the follwing:
    cmd /t:0a /k cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Remote Play with PlayStation 3\"&regsvr32 vrpsdk.dll&regsvr32 vrpmapping.dll

Make sure it says succeeded twice! The command above only works if you are signed in as Admin and have a 64 bit computer.
If not open the read me in the VRPPatch folder for alternative instructions.

Copy the files in the VRPPatch folder to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Remote Play with PlayStation 3\" overwriting the original files.

On the PS3, go to Settings > Remote play > Register Device> PC
Write down the 8 digit number.

On your PC, open Vaio Remote Play click next and enter in the key we just wrote down and click connect. You need to make sure you firewall is going to allow the connection.

If you managed to successfully register you PS3, go to the Network tab on the PS3, and open Remote Play, now you can connect from your PC! Woot!

It's not as complicated as it "sounds", promise.

If you have any problems don't hesitate to ask me!

I also have a PS3. Can someone clarify for me what remote play for the PS3 is? It sounds intriguing, but I am not exactly sure what it does. I thought it was something to do with the PSP.

Remote play allows you to ___________.

    Thanks! :)

Remote play allows you to stream the video out from your PS3 to your pc...

Sorry, to go quickly off topic, Stain have you checked out PS3 Media Server?

Thanks BitByteBit. I did google it and even went to that wikipedia page, but did not read that far down the screen. :) It was just referring to connecting the PSP and the PS3 so I zoned out.

From looking deeper into the wiki you linked:
    "Remote Play to PC
Homebrew developers have reverse engineered the Remote Play protocol allowing the Remote Play function to be used on a computer. The [Windows] software... requires a hacked PSP to retrieve the paired device settings that the PlayStation 3 stores on the PlayStation Portable...

On April 22, 2010 system software 3.30 was released for the PlayStation 3 and will allow future Sony VAIO laptops to use Remote Play"

I still am trying to figure out why I would want to do this. Just to access media content stored on the PS3 to be displayed on the M11x, correct? I assume it is too laggy to effectively run a PS3 game from the M11x, right?

Sorry, I have not checked out PS3 Media Server, but I think I get what that one is from the title. I don't store media content on the PS3, I use my desktop for that and have a WD TV Live to display it on my TV. Sounds like the PS3 is capable of that as well.

    Thanks,
    Stain

    Thanks guys

For what I found in the amazing world of internet lol. I tried with many .... ps3 media server...its an okay one. Another is Nero But I had problems trying to watch animes etc. So.......should I convert my videos to avi? or mp4? THANKS!

Question you may had about ps3 ask me:

@stain: is the other way: for example you want to watch videos from your pc to a bigger screen(ps3) and watch them. You can watch pictures and music. Like the title says is a media server. Is very helpful when people come to your house and show some pics in a bigger screen or watch movies. Only problem is that videos take a little bit to charge the video on the stream.

Why would one want to stream media from the PS3 to a PC? Or Vice Versa? Especially when most PCs come equipped with an HDMI out?

    Serious question.

*EDIT* Missed Skillman's explanation. Why go through all the trouble when you can just hook the M11X up directly to a TV? Eliminate the middleman.

Streaming to a PS3 (or other device - say a laptop) can be useful if you have a dedicated Media Server or NAS.

However, in me experience streaming to the PS3 is a pain as it doesn't understand (at least not without tweaks) windows folder formats. My entire media collection gets shown as one long list (in name order) which isn't helpful when it is made up of about 300 TV episodes.

Remote play is quite useful as it allows a PSP to control the PS3. This includes media streaming AND Play TV.

like xaser said......another explanation....I got a 50 inch samsung tv and is far away from me. Because I'm lazy to go everytime I change a video music etc. I just use media server is not the best option but I helps a lot when you are lazy ^^
