    So I checked dells site and 197 series nvidia driver is latest? That's quite an old built, is the 256 series from nvidia's site for the 335M not supported?

    You are correct. The short answer is you need modified versions of the drivers posted on this forum :). This question has been asked a few dozen times now, so a search will get you further details and links to the drivers.

    The problem with using the search is that if you go too specific you get very few results, if you go too broad you get many results that are related to the R2.

    @timmciglobal

    You can install the latest drivers directly from nVidia as long as you disable hybrid mode in the bios (set to Discrete only). Though that makes you unable to switch to the Intel graphics for extra battery life.

    Do you also lose the BIOS graphics switching functionality when you install the latest drivers?

    I never use the forum search, so I wouldn't know :D (which is why I worded it as do "a search" not "use the forum search"). Google "site:forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/ <terms>", and that seems to work well. If for the term you put in "nvidia", it looks like every result on the first page answer this thread's question.

    Corwinicre is actually the forum's best search engine for new users.

    I feel your pain bro. It seems like every question has been asked & answered a thousand times in here. The people whom have been around for awhile understandable get a little annoyed at seeing the same questions asked & answered over & over again. But us newer people have a hard time find everything in the searches. It's sort of a catch 22. Sometimes if you do a search, you really get way too many results.

    So I really don't have a good answer to your question...because I am SO not techie enough to be answering any of these questions for anyone...

    But I did see these threads that might be of some help to you:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/499267-nvidia-driver-258-96-aw-discuss-here.html

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/510346-modded-optimus-drivers-collection-r2.html
    (I know this one says R2 but I could swear I saw that someone in there was talking about the R1 also. So much there, I just can't remember.)

    I hope that helps.
