Does anyone else have this or had this problem before?

Today turned my laptop on and in the top left hand corner I've noticed that a particle of dust is stuck inside the screen behind the plastic...

I cant remove it, tried sticking a bit of paper/plastic into it to remove it but it doesnt go all the way in.

Its definitely inside the plastic bit of the screen just after the lcd.

Im getting slight off at this laptop had nothing but issues, first it was an issue of my fan getting stuck at 100% (still an issue), then it was a led thats faded on the bottom right and now I have dust stuck inside my screen!!

Its my first alienware laptop I've owned and probably my last, love the size of this beast and the LED keyboard but ever since I purchased it ive had nothing but problems / letdowns.

I purchased it from [name removed by moderator] who is now asking me to return this so that they can ship it off to alienware for repair even though its only a month old!

Don't give up on Alienware. It's just that it's a new product, all new products have problems at first. Computers just have more because they are so complex. Laptops have even more because they are small.

This exact same thing happened to me a couple of days ago and I called Dell and they sent a technician out the next day with a new LCD and lid.

I'm worried that if it is repaired and the screen is replaced it will just happen again after a few months...

I had my laptop replaced by John Lewis, glad I purchased it from them.

They offered me a full refund after 45 days or a replacement as they agreed shouldnt get dust under the screen!, went with the replacement.

Touch wood havent had any further issues since the replcement.

I have the same problem. I am going to contact a CSR to see what they'll do. I've had it for a little less than 3 months.

I have the same problem. As i wrote in another thread: i returned the first laptop with this problem (got a new one.. same problem). Called Dell, they sent a tech and replaced the lid. Barely 2 weeks later: again dust inside the display.

Guess i have to call dell again..

Sounds like a lot of time spent on the phone. I think you deserve some compensation for time wasted not on your fault.

I'm in the same boat- I have a number of prominents specks, they look like burnt pixels excpet you can tell they are stuck on the plastic and aren't on the screen.

I'm thinking of trying a can of compressed air- there has to be a leak in the lid somewhere.

I wouldn't mind, but there is a HUGE speck dead center in the screen- the other ones are off to the side so I hardly notice 'em.

Has anyone else figured this out? I'm in Israel now, so getting a technician to come isn't an option! ;)

    This happened to me.

Call Alienware. They will send a tech out with a replacement and repair it in home.

If it happens again, have it replaced again.

Buy the extended warranty and they'll replace it anytime it happens over the term of that warranty.

Though I suspect that these are early adopter issues and will get worked out eventually.

My replacement display was an immediately better picture and I haven't had any issues since.

I am in love with this little machine.

Could it get dust under the screen again? Absolutely, this happens with all portable electronics. But with an extended warranty, they always replace it no questions asked.

Or, they will for at least the first year it's included, and hopefully within that year they'll get the kinks worked out.

But for me, the unit is too small with too many moving parts not to get the extended warranty.

It really is a fantastic machine when you get the latest Nvidia drivers on it and stay away from benchmarking hustles and just game.

    I really love it.
