my question wasn't really getting answered when I replied to another message so I'm just going to make a thread. Pretty much CS5 crashes/ when I playback the timeline. I don't know why, Is it because I have the 7200 rpm HD and not a faster one? My specs are

i7/ nvidia 335/ 8gb DDR3 ram/ windows 7 ultimate 64 bit/ 320 gb 7200 rpm. Someone please help? It's really annoying to have to edit and save knowing that the program will crash. I even did the hack where it'll allow for GPU acceleration. I don't know what it is...

I do all my editing of footage from an external USB attached drive, so drive speed is not your problem..

Do you get any sort of error message or does it just close? I would look in the system events viewer-> applications and see what the crash it is giving you for a message..

make sure you have all the updates to CS5 as well, also, what nvidia drivers are you using? check your swap disk settings and make sure nothing is screwy..

I have almost the same system as you, and I have never had a problem like that- You may consider a reinstall, if you upgraded from CS4 to CS5, and did not uninstall CS4 before the install, I have read that will also cause problems..

I reinstalled and downloaded it. I'm running 5.0.3 and my drivers are 266.58. Question: how do I go to system events viewer?
