    Hi Everyone,

My Best-Friend gave me a present today a M11x R1 Laptop he has used maybe 15 20 times.

I went through the process of all the windows updates and installed Star Wars the Old Republic. I then went ahead and decided to update the NVIDA graphic drivers. Mistake?

After the graphic update finished and the machine booted up, the machine appeared to be really sluggish and the screen was blurry. I tried to change the screen resolution but it wouldn't let me change it to what it was before the restart. I tried to go to the NVIDA Control Panel and was given the error: You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDA GPU.

Strange I googled the solution. A lot of the error searches were consistent with mine except for one thing. All the posting I found could not switch between SWITCHABLE and DISCREET in the BIOS. Then I read that if you don't care about battery life to put the machine on Discreet mode in the BIOS. I put the machine on discreet and after the Windows loading screen the screen went black. I let it sit there for 15 minutes and nothing. I rebooted it in switchable mode and it was back to the same problem I started with.

The graphics drivers are over 2 1/2 years old and needs to be updated. It's my last step before being able to game on my newish machine and I really need help.

Thanks ahead of time for all the help!!

A friend of mine has an R1 and as I recall you absolutely HAVE to use the dell provided switchable drivers in order to have it work. This was a couple of years ago though. I remember specifically that we had to get the "special" driver, I don't remember for sure if there was any other source than the dell support site.

Bob's right, you got to use dell's driver.

I've seen some updated version around in the forum, you could also try those as they have been modified to work properly with it.
