I just got my M11x r2 today. I am completely killing the bandwidth here downloading my games from steam.

Anyways taking it out of the box i was pretty impressed, turned it on and i loved the colors... I cant wait to have everything blinking different colors while im at an airport or something!

The build is pretty solid, the screen is pretty crap for an 800$ computer. I only have the i5, of the few games i tested overclocking it doesnt do anything for frame rates in league of legends.

I was unplugged cooking dinner and my battery life was like 2 hours at max brightness so i was wondering why, i was just on aim and steam games were downloading. Turns out the gpu turns on when aim is running... fixed that sooo dumb. Then the estimated battery jumped to 4.5 when it was already at 70%.

I have it overclocked at 156 with turbo on and its been steady all day, everything locked up at 162 earlier.

I'll edit this and add benchmarks later tonight or tomorrow after work for burnout, dirt 2, l4d2 and league of legends. I have a lot of games on steam so if anyone wants something specific i will test it as it seems a lot of benchmarks are all over the place right now.

Portal runs flawless on my i7 with Optimus.

It runs smooth even on the highest AA and AF settings...looks great too.

How did you find out the GPU was running when AIM was running, I think I am having a similar problem.

156 was my sweet spot for OC'ing too. Anything higher and the graphics in Crysis Warhead went screwy. My arm chair theory being that the CPU is so close to the GPU in a machine this size that it was putting out enough heat that it was affecting the GPU. 156 was the sweet spot where this did not happen.

That being said, when running Benchmark testing on Grand Theft Auto: Episodes of Liberty City, a game I thought did use some CPU, literally only had a half of a frame-1 frame increase over having OC on "disabled" in bios. Without going off anything other than my own feel, the heat it output was not worth a half frame increase at all.

Hopefully you'll have better luck and come up with some ideas. I waited out this version over the R1 because everyone around here said the R1 edition lacked a good CPU to be a good gaming netbook. Now everyone is saying it doesn't matter. Well, the R1 with the same config and this R2 I paid for is $500, if the CPU doesn't add any true gains then I'll return this one and get an R1 and take back the difference.

That being said, I just had a dell rep replace my LCD panel as I found dust under the screen of my first one within 24 hours of arrival. That screen looked like crap. While this new one is probably exactly the same make and model, it is much crisper and blemish free as the tech says they test the replacement part always first.

And the big difference I'm assuming is that this new panel was properly calibrated to ISF standards and the other was not. Now I have what look like proper blacks for an LCD panel. So, that alone may have me keeping this one.

It costs about $200, but if you're not going to be using a secondary monitor a lot, and will use this screen, you may consider getting it professionally calibrated by someone who is ISF certified (re: not Best Buy) and you will see a much, much more noticeable improvement in your display.

    Cheers

i'm having issues trying to get Burnout paradise to run. I think its because its on integrated till the game boots up... i added steam to the list of thing if steam boots it should turn on the nvidia graphics but it wont... weird thing is if i run aim it will and i had to make a profile to turn off the graphics card when aim was running.... sooo dumb.

Get the new drivers from Nvidia & not Dell. Thye have newer updated drivers that supposedly help. Good luck !
