so i just recieved my m11x today. 1st thing i noticed when i opened it.

the right hinge of the screen was making noise. wasnt happy about it so i closed the lid and kept pushing and pinching the hinges together and now its fixed.

the problem i cant seem to fix it. on some keys of the keyboard (backspace, 5, p etc etc )

when i press on it and release, it sounds like a small spring... while the rest of the keyboard when i press it down its just a solid thump and no sound when it comes back up, i;ve tried pressing it down hard, shifting it left and right, wiggling it a lil.

nothing is working. is this normal for the rest of you m11x owners?
    is there a fix?

    thanks

send it back, your unit should work right out the box

i was hoping if i could fix it then i wont bother sending it bak in and waiting another 2 weeks for it cuz i might be heading out of town.

Question: for a rma do i have to pay for shipping back to alienware? do i get refunded if they find that it is a defective product?

    thanks.

If it's just the keyboard, request a new keyboard. It would be overnighted and a tech will show up to replace it.

You can get the M11x Service Manual from Dell or Alienware.

All it is is taking off base cover, taking out battery, undoing 2 screws there, flip M11x over, pop off hinge cover (the area right above the keyboard), undoing 2 screws, slide keyboard up and disconnect cable...then profit!

In fact, you could probably try reseating the keyboard now with the above steps and see if that fixes your problem.

Just get the service manual for picture by picture (with words) descriptions.

I'd recommend that you call support/care and ask them to send a tech out to replace your keyboard. It is extremely quick and easy to do and should resolve your problem.
