There seems to be a lot of debate over this- should we get the i5, or the i7 version of the m11x R2? What is the performance increase, specifically while overclocked, and how will this translate to games from shooters (bc2, mw2) to RTS games, etc.? I figure it would be helpful to condense some of the results into one thread here

once you pick a processor you can not change it out it is soldered onto the board so might as well go for the most you can afford. In gaming i think the i5 overclock and turboboost will give you same fps as i7 i think the gpu is the limiting factor at that point. You see i do not game 24/7 and use the laptop for multitasking like...resizing a HD video, while surfing the web and having a game running in windowed mode. In that case it is nice to have the i7 since you do not notice a lag. Just list night i was repairing some large files along with extraction and playing random games like blur, GTA iv EFLC, l4d2 and did not notice any issues in speed or FPS drops

I figure, but if it's just a very slight increase while overclocked, some might opt to save $150. So some benchmarks would be nice.
edit: i gotcha, so the i7 works really well. And that's really good to know . But how close will the i5 be?
And a few games, like bad company, are still limited by processor. -

Here's my ballad of gay tony benchmark using same settings as faiz23. I had vehicle density at 17 if that matters heh.

here is my results for the gta 4 i have a feeling like the nvidia is not kicking in. I installed the 257.21 Verde and the modded inf i checked under nvidia control panel and GTA EFLC is set to nvidia but benchmarks all say intel

Any way to see the benchmark on this with the i7 model? -
i5 is significantly better then the su 7300. i7 is a bit faster then the i5. Depending on the oc/tb the i5/i7 will be equal if they are at the same clock. The i5/i7 at the same clock as the su7300 will still be faster.

FPS wise, the framerate of i5 will prob be similar as i7.. if anything like 16FPS but the CPU usage will be better than the SU7300 due to the four threads as well. But it's not like you'll be multitasking too much while playing the game, but any bit helps.
