    basically what the title says.

has any one had issues resuming from hibernation?

and as alternitive if this is common ill just use sleep mode. but what kind of battery drain are you guys normally seening durring sleep? 1% an hr?

    thanks.

Every now and then when I sleep/hibernate mine it crashes somewhere along the way. Now that I have an SSD I just shut it down when I transport it.

that sucks... so is it just every once in a blue moon, or like 25% of the time?

i had a huge habit of seting my laptops to hibernate when i closed the lid.

its not that it boots slow. its just getting all the programs loaded, webpages, ect. combined with cold booting that takes longer that i want to wait.

i cant justify a SSD right now. i need at least 256Gb and that will almost double the cost of my laptop. maybe in a yr or so.

For me it seemed to be 25% of the time. I think there is a loose connection in my machine anyway because every now and then if I apply quite a bit of pressure to the right palm rest spot (i mean like squeezeing the hell out of it as to pick it up with one hand) then it will shut down. If I sleep/hybernate it and then leave it put, then its fine.

As far as battery loss. I hear that hybernation looses very little battery life. I guess I could test it one of these days. Like have it fully charged in the morning. Pull the plug, put it into hybernation, go to work, come back home and wake it up and see where I am at battery wise.

    thanks for the reply.

i still havent been able to reload from hibernation. so i/ guess that as loss at this point.

and fyi i left my laptop asleep today for a few hrs while at work and after some math it seems it uses just over 1% per hr. so i guess i can change my habit. and try sleep mode.

    thanks again.

you know my laptop fails to wake up too and I have no clue why, I tried playing with power settings etc.

It only fails when I close the lid before hitting the power button. Normally when I hit the power button to sleep it then close the lid, it recovers fine next time I work on it

I have been messing with that too... I am getting accustomed to pressing the button now before closing the lid, that seems to be helping.

For years I've always turned off lid sleeping because I'm constantly moving around with my notebooks. Room to room, office to deck, etc. I set the power button to sleep so that way I'm sleeping when I want to. It's certainly not any less convenient that closing the lid to sleep and it provides me more freedom.
